Well, filler was bound to show up some time.

I think this is what we're going to be getting a lot of from this show. It wasn't a problem in the pilot because most of it was used introducing the characters, the setting, the conflicts, and whatnot. This episode is mostly spent with characters talking to each other, which is never a good idea for a slasher show and sure as hell not with such terrible actors. But there were a few decent segments here and there, mostly because they hearkened back to the original Scream. I still think there are too many characters, and literally only two are worth caring about. Hopefully as the show goes on and the ensemble gets smaller and smaller, the show will be a lot less cringe-worthy CW esque dialogue and more straightforward mystery suspense.

Overall, it was a forgettable episode. Not surprising since the show is still trying to find its stride. The potential is still there.

A good, solid continuation.

Another young death, as the killer strikes again.

It's a slow burner that's for sure, as with the first episode, this second spends most of the time giving us more of an insight into the kids, and giving us the shock, we don't as yet know much about the older generation as yet.

The murder itself is pretty grizzly, but it takes in comparison to the self harming scenes, they are perhaps a bit much.

Some of the horror clichés are already on display, but all have been well done, so they're forgiven.

Very enjoyable, 8/10.

Good level of suspense

A good level of suspense is kept up throughout the episode, though it might have worked better to draw out the initial horror scene. Acting is decent and storyline is interesting.

And now it begins....

This episode served to solidify the path that Scream will make, and we can see that drama and death are gonna be part of it. This is a TV show, so it needs to be stretched, and with that it looks like we're gonna see more of the teens lives, and fell in love with some and hate others, and then Ghostface strikes. It looks like the game is on, and we'll see more and more blood than we think.

Honestly, I like the way Scream is going, it's different, it's drama and horror together, and the show will grow and grow by each episode, so I'm certainly stay tuned for more. If people leave aside their arrogance, Scream can really show the best of it.

" MTV's "Scream TV Series" Advances Gradually"
FelipeCarrillo26 February 2016
"Scream" is back once more this week with "Hello, Emma" an episode that truly consolidate what the series wants to be. "Scream" takes the roots of the saga of original movies but implanted it with a refreshing touch of youth accompanied for good performances and a coherent development form nearly perfect experience. The series is forging its identity, however deviates from being a great proposal legitimate. When we study the pilot episode, we could know the potential and strength that would have series, and it is evident that increasingly evolves more, this is evidenced with the insidious and pleasant "Hello Emma".

The second episode has what can't the first, this second experience is constituted by three major and grisly facts: the first event (and more fun) was the small introduction of Noah about murderers and messages that his friends receive, then it is followed by the striking sequence opening where Rachel suffers from an absurdly by the published video and last but not least horrifying it was exciting and telephone call from killer to Emma in the middle of the street, being this scene one of the series logos.

Previously most of the public had designated that the least interesting aspect of the show were its characters, they were not novel and only met with the prototypes. In my personal opinion the series is perfectly suited in terms of characters, having each their dynamic load that altogether they form an excellent production which leads to a great result.

The new guest to cast was Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire - True Blood) which was very short-duration, however in that short time we identified that I was a journalist and was there to investigate what happened in Lakewood days ago, she was very normal, until then...

This episode focused on projecting several tributes to the original films, among which it is, when Emma goes into the bathroom and heard some girls talking about her ( "Scream " ) or at the time of the call ( " Scre4m " ) , obviously it did not have the same nature of the original .

"Scream " closes its second episode in a good way , with a much better atmosphere to its previous chapter but still missing something to make it interesting the series, maybe surprise us next week or maybe not, MTV's "Scream TV series " has too much energy and the sealed story so far suggests that there're more content to see.

definitely getting there
davidmalaimo26 May 2020
This show so far is pretty lukewarm at best. but this episode was worth the review solely for the final scene that definitely plays most like the original film series, and so hopefully they start rolling with that a little bit. still, scream is supposed to really suck you in with the first scene. every scream movie always finds a clever way to begin the movies. this tv show really started off with a lowpar kill. still, it last 3 seasons so there's gotta be something that kept some people coming back. and the final scene in this episode definitely shows potential:

Is anyone still watching this?
ghost_dog8617 July 2015
My mini reaction to - Scream: Episode 2: After the pilot episode, is anyone still watching? Well, if you're not (due to characters that are nearly all interchangeable, or due to uninspired direction which provides more gore than actual scares) then...it's probably not worth coming back for the second episode. That said, if you're still mildly interested, this is the episode that will tempt a weekly viewing. The characters are still annoyingly plain (except for all of the grown ups; which is an awful sign for a show that is on MTV) but an actual storyline has now emerged and hell, if it isn't sort of interesting. Plus, the final 5 minutes of this episode is the closest this misguided show has gotten to Wes Craven's beloved films.

Scream: The TV Series (2015) Hello, Emma.

Like, who doesn't keep rusty razor blades on their nightstand?

If you have little experience with the slasher genre then this is probably a decent series for you to enjoy.

If you do have experience with slashers then you probably won't enjoy this series because there is very little original material here. Cookie cutter characters who are unbelievably dumb. Jump scares that are ineffective. Cliched male teens with raging hormones. Teacher taking advantage of student. On and on and on.

We did start the review with our normal 8- star rating, though.
