This may be considered a spoiler, but in my opinion it's not. The episode pretty much confuses me because I know for a fact that both styles of the bomb were built, but this show would have you thinking that the military abandoned the gun style and went with only the implosion bomb that is far from the truth. Both bombs were built at the same time (thin Man) which later was renamed (Little Boy) was the gun style atomic bomb the way they got around the problems with Plutonium with this style bomb is they didn't use it they used (Uranium), but they only built one. The reason they only built one was that there is too much time involved working with and getting Uranium plus compared to plutonium uranium is to hard to work with. Plutonium on the other hand still dangerous to work with, but a lot easier than the more potent uranium. The thing that is truthful in this show is, you can't make a gun style bomb that will work using plutonium and that is where the implosion device came in. This is a great show and I really hope WGN doesn't cancel it also I hope they somehow can correct the screw up about Little Boy aka Thin Man in season 2.
