Avoid, not even funny
oldvicar8 May 2017
At the time of writing three quarters of the IMDb ratings were 1/10 which is fair.

Summary: avoid

Production values: 0/10, absent, it is evident within seconds this was filmed without budget and talent or for a laugh. But it's not funny.

Direction: 0/10 no sign of any

Special FX: none, bad prosthetics and rubber models

Acting: 0/10, no redeeming features

Soundtrack: a series of unmixed 'metal' records for which replays and credits are given at the end

Locations: unfortunately not a tropical island as suggested by the opening screen text but some woodland in USA

A disappoinment for cannibal fans
CobraMist15 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
If you are like me and thought that this might be a fun blending of old school, Italian cannibal movies and Nazisploitation then you too will be very disappointed by this movie. While the gore is created entirely through practical effects, there are no jungle cannibals to be found; nor is there any on screen cannibalism. Instead you have "civilized" people killing other "civilized" people and rarely for any reason. While this might sound like a fun excuse to kill an hour and half, most of the fights are poorly coregraphyed and are all in slow-motion. The fights almost never result in any gore or extreme violence (most of that is saved for the end of the movie) and instead features a lot of people being punched, choked out, passing out from poison, or suffering a surprisingly tame bullet wound.

I will give credit where it's due and say that when the blood does finally flow at the end you do get some decent gore. I would compare it in both quality and goriness to something you'd see in an Andreas Schnaas production. Also, if you like gelding scenes then you have two to look forward to. Both members are hilariously fake looking and one is even thrown into someone's face after detachment has occurred!

Overall I would not recommend this to any jungle cannibal fans as none of the required check boxes are hit. If you like metal music, slow-mo fights involving lingerie clad women, Dad jokes about grammar Nazis, and some decent gore at the end then you might consider checking it out.

what's the use?
GSK2328 November 2021
Every time I TRY to watch a Zebub film, I can never finish. Every single time. This one too! "Amateur" is a word that doesn't even warrant use here.

"Sub-par" gets closer.

"Cheap" certainly applies. But even other cheap b-movies can afford things like "effort". This one lacks on that front in so many ways. Sorry, but I can't even feel bad for those involved.

Avoid.

How much do you enjoy your patience being tried?
selfdestructo28 October 2022
In all fairness, I watched the Director's Cut of this movie. Found on the "Absurd Horror" Blu-ray, and for whatever reason with 11 minutes cut out, I don't know how much this differs from the original DVD, but as I'm discovering with Bill Zebub's formula, it can't be much.

Movie takes place entirely in the woods, though the Nazis were supposed to have crash landed on an island populated by cannibals. What you've got is comic relief, slow-motion fights, some torture, implied sex (with the prerequisite extended light groping), and an ending that implies there was a story here somewhere. Alright, who likes their action SLOW and redundant? Honestly, I don't know who that is supposed to appeal to.

What it all adds up to, is a campy exploitation picture? Maybe? Which I'm all for, but Zebub makes the proceedings excessively slow, with essentially no plot (I mean, there is a premise, but it doesn't go anywhere). What has puzzled me most, is how he gets such beautiful women to appear in these crappy movies. In this, all but one is totally nude, and there's always an appearance by the vejay. Lydia Lael is amusing as a valley girl... er, Nazi, Zebub rambles. Assuming he is constantly ad-libbing, the concentration camp survivor at the end was having trouble keeping a straight face. Anyway, kudos to the guy for getting the women he does to do the things they do, but yeah, still not a good movie.

Poor for a Bill Zebub film
Helix0020 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Chieftain had bigger moobs than half the actresses. I generally at least enjoy the soundtracks and on this one, not so much.

Groping corpses, a hanging suicide that looked more like auto-asphyxiation was meh.

I can't believe it's not buttocks was a pretty funny line though.

Amateurish and lacking
Floated24 June 2023
Holocaust Cannibal is a film by prestiged director Bill Zebub. It is certainly amateurish, low budget, cheap and doesn't provide anything noteworthy.

The film lacks in any real content as far as a plot goes. The acting from the main cast is subpar and noticeably weak from certain actors.

It takes place seemingly in one location of the woods. Several scenes include slow motion fighting from both women and men which is severely cringe. It moves at a very slow pace.

Several scenes of random nude women with music playing in the background (perhaps one highlight is a comical 'rape' scene with heavy metal type music playing- it is played for laughs yet isn't funny but we understand it isn't meant be taken serious once we see the fake looking body parts and overall lack of emotion from the actors). The nudity is included to distract viewers from how awful the film is.

Overall the film isn't worth much of anything. It doesn't fall in the category of "so bad it's good", it is simply bad.

If you came here to pitch a tent, you're barking up the wrong tree.

I knew that it wasn't going to be an amazing professional Hollywood movie with great acting and an amazing director. I enjoy watching awful low budget movies from time to time, but this movie is the bottom of the pile when it comes to terrible movies. I probably would've appreciate the nudity when I was 13 or 14, but as an adult the girls in this flick had the complete opposite results. As a matter of fact, if one was attempting to be celebit or whatever reason, this is the movie for you. If you were looking for a movie that would be helpful in pitching a tent, i would suggest an ISIS beheading video or something like the The Cove over this garbage.
