This phantom ride along the St. John's rapids of the Vitava in the Czech Republic shown at the 39th Pordenone Silent Film Festival is actually rather serene methinks. Along with the canoeing, we see some nicely tinted sunset views and supposed moonlight (blue tinting or toning, in other words--the silent-film form of day-for-night photography). Festival notes say that the picture was awarded a gold medal at the first International Film Exhibition (Vienna, October 1912). Not bad for a brief travelogue.
