A little gem - both smart and wise
hnct1 March 2019
Anyone who lives in a big, cosmopolitan city should be drawn to this film, for they will instinctively understand the situation it describes - the morning after Strangers in the Night - and the temptations it dissects. Like its setting - Paris - Universal Language is quirky, witty and far more complex than a casual glance would have you believe. More sour than sweet, it pulls off that Jane Austen trick of inviting you to a second, wiser encounter with its characters. (If an English speaker, try watching it without reading the subtitles first time around).
