"How is it Sasha's fault that your family's screwed up?"
skteosk24 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is the first episode in a long time where we've actually been able to see Chris and Denny function as a couple. And they actually function pretty well, with their shepherding of Spencer and Evelyn and their little scene together at the Diner, with the implied reconsummation. Evelyn's nervousness at going on her first date is quite sweet but sadly it's wrecked by stuff going on elsewhere.

Because this is an episode where you have to wonder how exactly the writers think the audience are going to react.Evelyn throws a tantrum at Sasha and blames her for things that aren't her fault.Matt stands up to her and tells her to shut up, pointing out the real reasons why Oscar's in trouble. The audience cheers. And then Spencer proves what a rubbish friend he is to Sasha by acting like Matt's the one in the wrong and Sasha acts like an ungrateful and judgemental cow and also acts like Matt's in the wrong.Er, how?In a similar vein, we have Jett throwing a tantrum because John's making him pay for the damage he did, egged on by some unhelpful comments from Sasha and some more weak behaviour from Marilyn and it's hard to shake the feeling we're meant to be siding with the brat who has no sense of responsibility in this storyline as well.

There's a nice use of Alf as he gives Josh some sage advice. Unfortunately Matt undoes all his hard work and Maddy backs down far too easily, suggesting trouble ahead.
