"After School Special" is a short that is well worth the time to check out. From the direction of Troy Davis to the chilling performances of Olivia Schaperjohn and Kevin Roach, this is a first-class production that will leave you enthralled and entertained. Kristine Renee Farlay's steely turn as the therapist attempting to help young Elizabeth deal with her ordeal at the hands of the twisted Milo lends a ray of hope for the audience that a happy ending is possible, but the cunning Sophia (played by Helana Walker with a grin that will remind one of Pennywise at his freaky best) wants to see the ending turn out as she will best benefit.
Davis foregoes cheap gore and innuendo to focus upon the depth of his characters, and in doing so trusts the audience to have the investment necessary that allows "After School Special" to jump off the screen and tickle the inevitable goosebumps created.
