Great new for fans of Mark Hamill! Corvette Summer (1978) is available on Blu-ray From Warner Archives
A cherry Corvette Stingray. A gorgeous girl. And a summer in glittery Las Vegas. What more does a guy need for the wildest, weirdest, funniest, freakiest time of his life? Mark Hamill (Star Wars) and Annie Potts (Designing Women) make comedic and romantic sparks fly in a revved-up tale of car-brained Kenny (Hamill), who trails a Corvette that’s mysteriously boosted after his high-school shop class restores it to perfection. The trail leads to Fun Capital, USA, and a ditzy diversion (Potts) whose dream is to become…a hooker? This damsel in distress needs a white knight on a candy-apple, metal-flake, superior-mags, mercury-tubes steed – right, Kenny? Both are in for a summer they’ll never forget.
Well before Pee-wee had his big adventure seeking a stolen red bicycle, Mark Hamill set off on a...

It wasn’t easy coming up with fresh space ships for the rebooted “Star Trek Discovery” and “Lost in Space,” or the “Star Trek” riffs on “USS Callister” (“Black Mirror”) and Seth MacFarlane’s “The Orville.” After all, there’s cultural significance and legacy and immense pressure in creating what amounts to homes and playgrounds and battle arenas, with distinct shape languages that help define the looks of their shows.
Of course, “Star Trek” offers its own set of challenges and, with “Discovery,” it required a special Federation ship that was only a decade removed from the original Enterprise. For “Lost in Space,” they had a lot more artistic license in designing a futuristic Jupiter 2. However, for the USS Callister, the “Black Mirror” team had to steer clear of any direct references to “Star Trek” while still evoking its ’60s vibe. MacFarlane’s team, meanwhile, was tasked with coming up...

Anthony Hayes.
Anthony Hayes (The Boys, Animal Kingdom) will direct crime thriller Stingray, set to start shooting next year in Canada.
Hayes wrote the script and will produce with John and Michael Schwarz. He will also appear in the film alongside American actor Jon Bernthal (The Wolf of Wall Street, Sicario).
The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, describes Stingray as the story of "a young man (Bernthal) caught up in organized crime who accidentally kills the brother of a powerful crime figure. He must then kill one of his own family in the next two days to pay off his blood debt."
The project is being shopped at the American Film Market next month.
It's been a big week for Hayes, who received Screen Australia development funding only a couple of days ago for another writing-directing project: Gold follows two men who find a huge gold nugget in the desert.

Jon Bernthal bowled over viewers with his portrayal of Frank Castle in Netflix’s Daredevil, so much so that he’ll become The Punisher in a spin-off series. Earlier this year, the Walking Dead alum has said that we haven’t seen the Punisher really get down to brass tacks, i.e.., shell casings. Castle will engage in much more unsanctioned adjudicating once he’s inhabiting his own corner of Hell’s Kitchen. But that brand of street justice is precisely what’s going to get Bernthal into trouble in his next film role.
Empire Magazine reports that Bernthal will lead the crime-thriller Stingray, from writer-director Anthony Hayes (The Slap). Bernthal’s character will get caught up in a “blood feud” with a “notorious criminal” after he kills that individual’s brother. His punishment for the slip-up (or execution): He’ll have to off one of his own family...

Jon Bernthal is an actor that has been appearing across screens big and small since the turn of the millennium, but it was only when the actor landed the complex, scenery-chewing role of Shane in The Walking Dead that the industry began to stand up and take notice. In those intervening years, Bernthal’s career has been on the up and up, nabbing a series of supporting roles in the likes of The Wolf of Wall Street, Fury, Daredevil and, more recently, Ben Affleck’s The Accountant.
We can now add Stingray to that ever-expanding résumé, as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Jon Bernthal has secured a leading role in Anthony Hayes’ crime thriller. Already in pre-production, the pic follows Bernthal’s young man as he is “caught up in organized crime who accidentally kills the brother of a powerful crime figure. He must then kill one of his...
