Zatoichi comes to yet another crappy little town. This one is run by a bunch of pimps who spend their time selling flesh, gambling and being jerks. However, when Ichi is there, he stands in the way of their 'fun' and they decide to hire an assassin to kill him.
At the same time, Zatoichi meets a nice lady. She is quite kind but she has a sore spot...she hates him and wants him dead! This is because apparently in one of his countless fights he killed her brother. However, her hatred of the man is challenged by his actions. Eventually, the at least come up with a truce--and she agrees to stop drinking and he agrees to give up his sword. When the assassins come to get Zatoichi, however, the lady is in an awkward position. Should she allow him to have his can sword even though he DID kill her brother?
This is a very good episode of the TV series. While the films were generally better because they allowed more plot development and characterization, this one is enjoyable and the scene of the fight in the rain was exceptional. I particularly liked the camera angle as it looked down on the fight in the narrow alleyway. Well worth seeing.
