Just as bland and just as awful as the first Gladiformers
The first Gladiformers may not be the worst of Video Brinquedo's output(that dishonour is still Ratatoing), but that is not saying much as it is still terrible with all the things that make their output as bad as they are and makes the extra mistake of being incomprehensible. Somehow it managed to spawn a sequel, and one just as bland and just as awful(then again that was expected) with everything that made the first Gladiformers bad present here as well. The theme song is somewhat catchy, quite possibly Video Brinquedo's best theme song, but that's it. The animation is at its worst hideous, the backgrounds and colours are bad video-game quality- except bad video-game quality is comparatively better-, there are shots that go on forever and for no reason and even for robots the robots are incredibly stiff, making those for Robozinhos natural in comparison when they were anything but. Outside of the theme song, the music is really overbearing, it's sluggishly paced and could have been used more sparingly and less heavily orchestrated. The dialogue is at best stilted with a lot of overlong pauses and like the first Gladiformers too talky. Like almost all Video Brinquedo's stuff it's also too crass for kids and too juvenile for adults. The story barely moves, stop and starts frequently and like the first is often incomprehensible. If you're looking for excitement, fun or charm look elsewhere. Like the first Gladiformers, Gladiformers 2 is too much talk, not enough action, and when there is action it's very clumsily done, lacks urgency and I imagine the worst action in the worst designed video-game look better than the action here. The characters, with really uninspired names, range from annoying to nightmare-inducing with very weak motivations or personality, not the worst bunch of characters in a Video Brinquedo outing(Iria from The Frog Prince and Little Princess School is a contender) but you still hate them. And the voice acting is just as creepy with the voice actors talking in a slow and pedantic way that feels like you're been talked down to. In conclusion, the first was painful and so is this, though the theme song ever so slightly lifts it. As said in the first Gladiformers review the Transformers films are not great(nor are either as bad as said to be) but they are certainly much better than this. 1/10 Bethany Cox
