Another Kendo stinker, off-brand this time
lor_12 July 2016
Brit helmer Kendo undoubtedly has a following somewhere, given how prolific he's been in his quasi-experimental porn pantomimes over the past decade or so. This relatively rare title (I could only find an import version) "Depraved" is extremely poor in all its elements.

Its cast is way below Mr. K's usual big-name standards, with oldies like Stefan Hard and Elizabeth Lawrence causing me to infer that it is several years older than its official 2010 date of release. Checking through IMDb just now (weeks after watching it) I discover that it is likely a re-titling of a 2008 listing (dupe caused by deteriorated data) for "Rubber Me" - perhaps Kendo's original title. Making matters even worse for us film archaeologists, a third IMDb listing for "Urban Perversion" credited instead to Kendo's producer at the time, Ronin, has the identical lengthy cast and same erroneous running time but a different German release date. I infer that some bait and switch action occurred, a more logical explanation than the team shooting two or three back-to-back crappy features with the same assembled players -not their usual m.o.

To the content: the movie is set in a graveyard with ghouls popping out of crypts or the ground to hump. Momentary bits of danger are neutralized because K eschews violence and gore. This is not even watchable as a zombie marathon by the huge base of zombie addicts out there in cinema-land. It is just gonzo sex with crummy sets, costumes and makeup. Kendo's avoidance of any dialog or even helpful narration makes it tough to sit through.

A British favorite of mine pops up briefly to f*ck and suck: Stacey Saran, but she is tagged with the dumb pseudonym Jamie Lee Summers and nearly escaped detection.

It's credited to a French production company and released by a bottom-feeding (Paradise) German outfit, so unlike Kendo's many prestige productions (daring! Media, Marc Dorcel, Private) is has sunk without a trace. I'm reviewing it for the record in my ill-conceived quest to cover the Great Man's work thoroughly.

So if all you need to get off is the sight of fishnet stockings, harshly lit sex footage, anal sex and gaping, very fake zombies, and relentless ugliness, Mr. K has delivered the package.
