Was a good show until it ended with a cliffhanger
kharihardin17 July 2020
Was watching season 3 on Netflix and wondering how it was gonna end and then to my surprise it ended in the middle of the episode. The least the could've done was give it another episode so that it could've ended properly. Disappointed and felt like I wasted my time.

Cancelled after S3--no resolution
horror_connoisseur11 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Reminder: this is science fiction, and their science is mostly bogus, again, fiction, so let's not dwell on that and just appreciate the fun of the show and idea. Just finished season 3 on Netflix.... Didn't realize the show was cancelled and had NO resolution!! So mad! Haha. Can't believe I don't get to see what happens. Anyway season 3 did feel like a cheesy soap opera especially the first half, and then it got a little less dramatic but still not as good as the first two seasons. It's a fun and unique story from anything else I've watched before, sure the acting is cheesy and the character's decisions keep you saying "FFS why are you such an idiot?" But still, worth a watch.

I am disappointed

Warning: Spoilers
I liked this series so much. All of The 3 season was good especially the first one. Everything was going well until the last episode of season 3. There was no ending. I hoped that there is another season or even episode but there wasn't 😔

Entertaining Rubbish
rob_lofty24 September 2018
Do not come to this show with high sci-fi expectations. Come to watch the writers have fun with the concepts. This is not intelligent sci-fi, or deep drama, it's silly, somewhat macabre, fun, with very occasional character moments. It gets dumber as it goes on, but manages to stay entertaining, to me at least.

Started with great premise but in the end it failed.....
theromanempire-122 November 2019
This series consisted of 3 seasons. general plot is what if animals took revenge from the humans for destroying the environment. if u want to take my advise u only have to watch first 2 seasons. first season was the best of the three. pure gem u will love it. things started to get bizarre at season 2 when the stories went absurd and we got 2-3 laughable to say the least episodes. still season 2 overall delievered the goods and if the show ended with season 2 then all would be fine. unfortunately we got that over the top season 3 which ruined everything. a lead main character supposed to be dead in season 2......we clearly saw that...and yet ...he wasn't in season 3. they also killed another important female lead character in season 2. stories went ridiculously unbelievable even by the standards this series set up in season 2. I only watched season 3 in fast forward just to see how it will end in it's last episode. if u wanna know what happened u can save yourselves the bore and go read the stories explanations in Wikipedia . anyhow u can watch season 3 at your own risk but first 2 seasons especially season 1 were the best.

overall ....grades.

Season 1 // A

Season 2 // B

Season 3 // D

Without Apology: Just Fun
BalconySeats8 July 2015
We are experiencing a New Golden Age of Television. But, relax, "Zoo" is not part of that renaissance… you will not be vexed by conflicted characters, charged with remembering convoluted back-stories, or tortured by the moral ambiguity of the main plot. Consider "Zoo" an absolution, a get out of high-minded television free card. In other words, bring a bowl of popcorn or a package of Twizzlers: this is "B" television at its best: nature gone wild on a global stage (without much gore, thus far), attractive actors, plot holes big enough to swallow a rampaging giraffe, and just enough suspense to bring you back. Having come to "Zoo" without any expectations, I'm giving this high marks for being just entertaining. I imagine it will tell its tale and disappear from our memories like those Saturday afternoon serials of long ago – in that regard, it will be very successful.

This is insane!

I love this show! I am super ANGRY that you would end it the way you did and not finish a new season. Are you kidding me!? Seriously!? The absolute worst way to cancel a show.

It's OK
amichnea27 August 2015
I would like to know why are people so damn negative? No wonder just about every entertaining thing on TV dies a horrible death.

This series goes in the same genre as most other end of the world series such as all the Zombie series out there, Last Ship and so forth but it has a different approach. It has plenty of mysteries left, however the series is not put together cleverly, there aren't any amazing twisters but it does the job. They have done something different and new, and kind of interesting especially for animal lovers and people that root against all those poachers and animal experimentation, after all we are helping with the extension of many species and eventually our own. There are a few moments where the audience might think "why did they not do that?" where you might feel like they insult your intelligence but the script must go on and it works if you don't take it too serious.

I tend to watch one or two episodes in any new series coming out and if I don't like it I never watch it, Zoo did not put me off. The acting was OK from everyone except for Nora Arnezeder, she didn't seem very good, kind of blah.

People that want some artistic BS that warps your brain go read a "clever" book or watch them movies that feel like I lost half my life by watching, let the "stupid" people sit back, relax and enjoy some fun TV.

It's a decent series, I rather watch this than some silly reality show. It's different, don't take it seriously and just have some fun.

Bring back "Zoo" for a season 4
bluewolves-1721311 December 2020
I love "Zoo" so much. I binge watch it all the time, rewatch it every time. I love how they made the series. Although some of the animals (namely one animal) could be more realistic, I believe that this is very underrated. Cause I know that some people have thought from time to time "what if animals did fight back?" Or small question to one thought. They literally put it together, and the way they do it is good, they really show the detail, and the acting is great. I believe that this show was too good to be cancelled and that they should be brought back for a season 4. The characters are great, the events are very good, and I will repeatedly spam reviews and comments until I get banned or something, or they change somethin. This deserves more seasons.

Lost it half way through season 2
lindsay_hicklin14 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It's a fictional end of the world story which has real promise. Yes in parts unbelivable but that's the point of fiction. Actors are well cast but by half way through season two it just got silly for me. I watched until the end of season 3 but in my opinion there was no need for hybrids. The animals being crazy was enough and this should have always been the driving force of the story. Also the main characters changing their minds and swapping sides got stupid too. However I do think it's worth a watch, even if it's just first season you watch.

Sometimes you just need to know when to stop...
hldr-cc21 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Really enjoyed first season "natural events" no need for a villain and really entertaining; second season came and with it an antagonist (not really a villain) and it was ok, some "superpowers" to this antagonist but ok, some over the top plot twists, but ok... And it really should stop there... Third season is kind of ridiculous, the villain could be in a marvel story, she can be everywhere at the same time, and the plot twists... Worse than a Mexican soap opera. So if you want to watch it stick to the 2 first seasons, or if you want to study bad writing go all the way!

A promising start and an interesting premise
Martypies2 July 2015
I love IMDb reviews because you are dealing with average Joe's like me who love movies and television. I never read movie critics reviews any more because they are to judgmental and often trying to make a name for themselves. Unfortunately, some of the IMDb people are the same so I have a hard and fast rule, if at least 20% of IMDb reviewers give the movie or show a good rating then that is good enough for me! I try not to get annoyed by some people who write on this site but that's what you pay for in a democracy. There have been a number of reviews for Zoo which state that it is awful because it is unbelievable. Do those fools realise this is science fiction ... that means a made up story, not real, fabricated, sometimes silly but it is entertaining. One reviewer said it best, if you don't like science fiction then please, please, stop wasting our time by reviewing these titles! Enjoy Zoo, it's a good pilot.

Unbelievably DUMB writing
dfdrmrezes25 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
First off Love the cast they are the only thing believable, I give the cast 10 plus for putting up with the poor script.... As for the writers shame on you!!! Episode 1 you've two supposed experienced African guides, who go out into the WILD were there are KILLER LIONS and one of them can't shot a rifle with a scope on it and the other who foolishly goes walking through very high grass when it would have been safer to DRIVE the Landrover through the tall grass(dumb) Now tonight's episode the same two "experienced guides" go into the woods hunting KILLER WOLVES and no one brings a gun except the lady french detective!!! And then bats in Antarctica really??? Only an uneducated idiot could be gullible enough to believe that a bat with almost NO Body fat or Fur could survive for more than a few minutes outside in Antarctica. Oh, then what about those darned solar panels. Hey Dumb writers, solar cells are used to make electricity and it's stored in BATTERIES the power would not go off instantly. Please hire someone to do just a little research or is this supposed to be a comedy of errors

Not nearly as bad as some would have you believe
dhawk9489 July 2015
Is the premise of Zoo over-the-top? Yes! Of course. It's supposed to be. Around the world, animals are attacking humans. Judging the story within the premise, it holds together. In fact, there are some amazing production values here and some genuine opportunities for thrills and chills. The animal action is nothing short of amazing. Diane from London suggests (James Patterson hired unimaginative and untalented hacks to write Zoo. pays are unimaginative and untalented. "Ridiculous plot, bad writing, absurd action, and silly all around," she says. "Not one character in this trash behaves as if they were remotely familiar with Africa, animals, or common sense." I disagree. Again, within the context of the story, most of the action is plausible and the characters likable and believable. Frankly, her analysis says more about her than about the show. Such venom and hatred directed at Patterson suggests to me a sad, bitter person with a personal ax to grind. Just as with any program, be it the X-Files or NCIS or Games of Thrones must be judged within the context of its own framework. Zoo is not an Alex Cross thriller. That doesn't make it trash; it simply makes it a different kind of story.

Naive and shallow story but fun to watch anyway
Srba611 August 2017
Let me just start with saying that story is not believable nor realistic. I kept watching the show because I liked the ominous vibe, and assembling the team to solve a big problem is always fun in my opinion. It's a B production styled show and if you accept it as it is, and add some imagination to it you can have fun. But if you're expecting good realistic plot, this may not be your cup of tea.

Make more "Zoo" Seasons
bluewolves-1721311 December 2020
I love "Zoo" it is so good. And I love watching what crazy events happen. I also want to see more background of Jackson's father. The seasons should continue to go up. It is very good and I think it deserves better recognition. I want it to continue having more seasons because it is underrated and deserves to be brought back from cancellation and continue the production of making more seasons

Absurd plot but surprisingly entertaining
zidangus5 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Well what can I say except, the plot of zoo is ridiculous, but for some reason I find it enjoyable to watch. The plot is silly with more holes than swiss cheese. However, the CGI is decent, the acting is not too bad, the action is decent also and you get too see almost every city on Earth, as they seem to do a LOT of traveling. It's definitely worth a watch, I mean it's not going to win any awards (I think) but it will keep you entertained, just as long as you don't take it too seriously.

Quite Nice show.
imacrab-8933818 May 2020
Still don't understand why this show didn't get so popular. Really underrated show. I literally binge watched this show whole week.. Maybe some of the CG works were little bit awkward.. and the story became strange.. but it was not that bad. The concept and the storyline of this show were pretty amazing. It was like watching the zombie version of animals. For the record, i'm still waiting for the next season. For those of you still didn't watch on netflix, i definitely recommend you to watch this show right now.

Not bad compared to other shows
scuddafan117 August 2017
I really think the negative reviews are from people who never saw even one episode. They bash everything down to the tiniest, nitpicky detail. I've seen shows that are very boring compared to this. It's based on a book. Animals all over the world suddenly develop an elevated kind of intelligence. They can communicate much better than normal and suddenly, their behavior spirals out of control. The real horror comes when they start planning deliberate attacks on everything. A veterinary pathologist named Mitch teams up with Jamie, a curious reporter who always gets into trouble. They find themselves fighting a massive corporation named Reiden as they struggle to find out what it wants and how it intends to change the way we all live. In Africa two men find out how dangerous all animals have become and eventually, their paths will cross with the first two and a French diplomat named Chloe as they struggle to bring down Reiden and find out why one of them has a past that could either save the world or kill them all. It's interesting because it's different. Although it's tough to get started, the series improves after 2-3 episodes. The only problem I have is that they could make the spying more convincing. It wouldn't take a former spy to help fill up those plot holes.

Good season 1 and that's it.
roduk16 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 is good and catchy, the plot is well developed, sorta surprised me. Season 2 is fine till they kill Chloe, then the series simply ends, really, I believe they tried to "surprise the audience" and increase the ratings, but no, they got lost after that. Finally there is season 3 that I'm currently watching and is pure rubbish, seriously, I want to believe that the people who wrote season 1 aren't the same, because the writing in season 3 is just laughable, sharknado level.

LOVE the idea of animals striking back! Human being would more than deserve it!
mapika22 July 2020
Some actors are great, some are just decent.

Right, there are some flaws within the story. The script at some parts is cheesy and unnatural. And there could have been more depth to the characters for sure. And the score is mediorcre at best. Last but not least, it's a shame, that the show didn't get the proper finale it would have deserved.

Even though the message is most important:

Unless humans don't recognise their cruelty towards animals and life in general, it's not even worth to think about giving this series less than 8 stars.

The premise itself simply deserves a 10.

I'm just sad, I found this one so late and that it was cancelled.

Season 1 the best, seasons after that just sucks!!!
grthomas-825761 March 2020
Season 1: The whole time I watched the season, I was hooked. It had a lot of unexpected turns throughout the season which just kept ya hooked. Season 2: it was eh. It had its moments of being okay and you were hooked but most of the time it was just predictable and very unneeded. Season 3: I feel like it was a mistake to have been made. Just utterly pointless.

The idea might have worked, but both the fauna and humans are far from engaging
quincytheodore1 July 2015
Zoo has a simple concept of animals rebelling against humans. Enough is enough for them as they randomly converge on some tree or attack random passerby. It has merit since with both viewpoints from savanna and urban locales simultaneously detect anomalies. Unfortunately, there's not much interest sparked by the human characters while the animals certainly can't carry the show by themselves.

Its most problematic issue is the awkward writing. None of the personalities are fascinating, in fact nearly everyone is either showing exaggerated emotions or lack of urgency. For the city perspective, we have the story of a journalist who writes blog of preserving animal rights. She's meant to be a strong female lead, but sadly she just seems preachy and unapproachable.

The savanna cast is very elementary, they even react very stiff in face of danger, bantering about theory while the animals literally just attacked them. I reckon it could be better if presentation could resemble Jurassic Park or Planet of the Apes, but such caliber is not within the Zoo's grasp.

Ultimately, the show sounds rather tediously pretentious and nonsensical. It could build tension, but it would be a long trek for audience to follow since there's no character, walking with paws or feet, is worthy on investing time on.

First two seasons, yes. Season 3, just no.
alpilhanuysal16 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Zoo started off with a great upside. The idea of animals going crazy and destructing the existence of humans was a great evil one for a sci-fi show. Show started of well as far as the plot goes. I didn't like either Abe or Chloe. I mean it is an American TV show. What were two actors that have very weird accents doing there? The other casting is really good imo. Especially Billy Burke. The man is a legend.

Season 1 was good. They had all these animals going crazy then tieing them up to leopards and finding the cure. Until the end. Whose idea was to kill of a character EVERY season and then bring them back? I would have preferred everyone on that plane being missing or some of them getting eaten by sharks or something. Despite these it was still good.

Then we go the season 2, Jamie is alive which I was happy about. In season 2, the lazy writing started getting exposed. How does both Elizabeth and Jackson turn into psycho apex predators and Robert doesn't? Or how did Jamie figure out Caraquet? By looking to the map? Am I missing something? I think I don't. Sterilizing humanity was okay too, I give that a pass. And as said before I didn't really like Chloe so it didn't bother that she died. Also I wonder what happened to that old lady Vera Salvon?? She was there to produce to cure and we didn't see her. They casted her out just to kill Jackson's dad.

Season 3 tho... I think the pacing of this show was too fast that the writers ran out of ideas. You start asking yourself questions. How does the qriters think that their audience is this dumb? How many stupid decisions can these characters make? Oh here is a crazy hybrid, let me get in the same caravan with it. Oh, here is our biggest enemy let's not kill her but actually bring her back to life (she died and came back but it is still dumb). Jamie was right, they show mercy and it bites them and the writers know it. Another thing is that how did Mitch find Clem?? She was kidnapped. How did Clem get out of the capsule by herself? Last time I checked that wasn't possible. They kept having these plot holes. They kept writing these stupid storylines which got the show cancelled eventually. I mean whose idea was it to kill Mitch? Seriously? They didn't tried once tho. They killed him TWICE and brought him back to life TWICE. WHAT IS YOU DOING??? And in the finale, they just thought that a dumb clifdhanger would give them another renewal. Well it did not.

I feel sorry fot Billy Burke lol. He is a great actor but his shows get cancelled b/c of poor writing to appeal the masses. Which is now proving that it doesn't appeal masses.
