‘Grimm’ Spinoff With A Female Lead In Works At NBC
Grimm is eying a comeback. NBC is developing a spinoff from the supernatural series, which bowed out last year after six seasons. Like the original, the offshoot hails from Universal TV and Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s studio-based Hazy Mills Prods.

Written by Melissa Glenn (Marvel’s Iron Fist), the untitled spinoff, I hear, will center on a female Grimm. Per NBC, building off the mythology of the original series, the new show will feature returning fan favorites while also introducing new characters, new dangers and epic new mysteries. I hear no actors are currently attached but the idea is for the offshoot to feature some original cast members, regular or recurring.

Glenn executive produces with Hazy Mills’ Hayes and Milliner. Grimm co-creators/showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf will serve as consulting producers.

The original series followed Portland Homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who discovered he is a Grimm,

NBC’s ‘Manifest’ Has TV’s Biggest Time-Shifted Series Premiere Ever (Unless You Count New ‘Roseanne’)

  • The Wrap
NBC’s “Manifest” has set new records with the all-time biggest two-day lift for a series premiere in the network’s measurement history, in both the all-important adults 18-49 range and total viewers, according to Nielsen data dating back to May 2007.

The “Manifest” premiere scored a 2.16 rating in the key demo in live-plus-same-day Nielsen numbers, shifting to a 3.44 in live-plus-two-day data. The episode put up 10.404 million viewers in L+Sd and lifted to 15.304 million in L+2.

That puts the Josh Dallas-led drama’s start at No. 2 in the 2-day shifted overall eyeballs contest among premieres, behind only ABC’s “Roseanne” revival — if you count that sitcom’s return as a series debut, that is.

Casting Update for Movie Adaptation of Doctor Sleep, Stephen King’s Sequel to The Shining

The cast is growing for Mike Flanagan's film adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining sequel.

Deadline reports that Alex Essoe is set to play Wendy Torrance, the mother of Danny Torrance, in Doctor Sleep, while Carl Lumbly is lined up for the role of Dick Halloran.

Dick Halloran and Wendy Torrance were played memorably by Scatman Crothers and Shelley Duvall, respectively, in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining adaptation. The Doctor Sleep film, meanwhile, will be an adaptation of King's sequel to The Shining novel, which has a different ending than Kubrick's version.

Variety previously reported that Ewan McGregor will play an adult version of Danny Torrance in the Doctor Sleep movie, so Essoe will likely be playing his mother shortly after the haunting events at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining, before the story flashes forward to when Danny is an adult.

The Doctor Sleep movie is slated for a January 24th,

Bumblebee Lights the Way in Cool New Comic-Con Poster

Paramount has unveiled a new poster for Bumblebee. The San Diego Comic-Con exclusive poster made its way online following the studio's presentation for the upcoming Transformers spin-off at the event. Unfortunately, they have yet to release any of the footage that was screened, which sounds like it was pretty fantastic, but this poster is also quite great and further gives us hope that this may be taking the franchise in the right direction.

This is yet another very solid poster for Bumblebee, following in the footsteps of the previously released theatrical poster and the fresh Bumblebee Comic-Con footage. This one takes a more comic book/street art approach. The entire thing is draped in yellow and black, the titular Autobot sketched out in black against the yellow background. His classic Vw Beetle form is seen driving through his legs at the bottom. If you had never seen a Transformers movie before,

The Forgotten: Mutt-o-Scope

I only recently became aware of Bonzo the Dog, also known as Bonzo the Pup, a British newspaper strip cartoon character who made the leap into animated shorts in emulation of America's Felix the Cat. New Era Films Ltd. launched the character onto the screen in 1924, proudly standing up for Britannia's right to make drawings of animals do silly things.Sadly, the above short is poorly transferred (via VHS?), cropped, misframed, and suffers from fungal print damage, but you do get to enjoy the lovely sepiatone that distinguishes Bonzo's adventures. It's like he's been drawn on brown wrapping paper.Bonzo was the creation of George Studdy, and such was his fame that he made appearances on stage (played by a man in a costume) and lent his fame to the Crosley Pup, a brand of Am radio, as well as appearing in 26 cartoons, only two of which are on YouTube
