It’s only a week or so until Wonder Woman reaches UK cinemas. So where’s all the merchandise?
Regular visitors to this site might’ve noticed that we do rather a lot of articles about movie tie-in Lego sets. Recently, we’ve chronicled the products available on Amazon (because we have a partnership with said retailer) for such iconic cinema-faring superheroes as Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and the Guardians Of The Galaxy. There always seems to be loads of cool kits, designed to connect up with the respective hero’s latest movie outing.
Last week, I looked at putting together an article about the Wonder Woman Lego sets, only to find that, well... there aren’t any. With the movie set to arrive in cinemas very soon (June 1st in the UK), I was a bit surprised at the lack of brick-based tie-in materials on Amazon. An...

The ‘Where’s Rey?’ campaign has won a victory, convincing Hasbro to add more Daisy Ridley-shaped toys to their range…
This piece contains slight spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens
If I was to use a shoehorned Star Wars analogy to explain the on-going campaign for greater female representation in movie tie-in ranges, I’d say that the ‘Where’s Rey?’ campaigners had just destroyed the first Death Star. The war is far from over, but an important victory has been won.
After fans voiced their concerns at the complete absence of Rey in the latest Star Wars Monopoly set – which includes small figurines of Vader, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker and Finn in place of the usual thimble, car, dog and such like – Hasbro has responded by promising to do better in future.
“We love your passion for Rey, and are happy to share that...

A second Monopoly film has entered development, charting the origins of the iconic board game…
Making a film out of a board game always causes a few raised eyebrows, but this one seems like a particularly off-the-wall idea when you first hear it. The Tracking Board reports that Big Beach Films “is developing a new film exploring the origins of the world’s most popular board games.”
Yep, it’s Monopoly: Origins (although it doesn’t yet have a title, we made that one up). The film will be based on Mary Pilon’s book The Monopolists: Obsession, Fury And The Scandal Behind The World’s Favourite Board Game.
"The Monopolists reveals the unknown story of how Monopoly came into existence," the book’s official synopsis book tells us, featuring "the reinvention of its history by Parker Brothers and multiple media outlets, the lost female originator of the game,...

I don't know if you've heard me mention this lately, but I hate the Double U-Turn. I say the same thing every season. I debated it with executive producer Elise Doganieri, who smiled and ignored me. If you get to the U-Turn and discover you've been U-Turned, you should be bounced directly to the other side of the Detour. When you get sent directly to jail in Monopoly, you've been sent Directly To Jail. You don't get to collect the $200 if you happen to pass Go, because it occurred in the process of the act that was sending you to Jail. The second the card says "Go to Jail," you've been boomeranged on your way to Jail. Period. Full stop. If you hit the U-Turn mat and you've been U-Turned... Boing. Off to the other Detour with you. The first act is to step on the mat and see if you've been U-Turned.
