Typical basic humor. Exactly what is expected
abelcampiao15 September 2019
Not sure what everyone was expecting, but this movie delivers what Portuguese people is expecting. Accent from rural Portugal, summer parties that are common in interior Portugal, allusion to drinking and eating and quick relationships, but with some feelings. Come on, this is not a romantic nor a sci-fi movie, this is utterly hilarious if you ever take part in some of these August summer parties in the east of Portugal! If not, I'm not sure if you understand what is happiness with simple people, friends and family!

Waste of budget

This movie is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Run from this movie like your life depends on it.

This is a senseless movie, almost no plot. Done to please the brainless masses that love swearing. Sometimes just seems like an amateur movie. The cast is superficial, most of them are not even actors and they appear only to give more interest to an empty dialogue. In a country with so much bad actors and so few good movies this film is not an outsider is just an enormous waste of money.

And again, wake up people in Portugal for the problem of the sound. Portuguese movies have the worst sound in the entire world. We can only hear something if you put the sound almost in maximum volume.

Run from this horrible movie while you can.

Waste of time

7 Pecados Rurais is a completely waste of time and are going to make all watchers scream for the 90 minutes that they lost in their life. The producers spent a big budget (for a Portuguese production, of course) to made a low budget film, full of bad scenes, horrible dialogues and a poor cast. I tried to find a positive thing but it's impossible, everything is so bad! The jokes are weak even for someone with a basic humor sense and every scene is so badly directed, a lot 12 years old child know how to do a better job. I'm Portuguese and I feel ashamed about to see a horrible movie that can tarnish the image of my country. I really would love to see some good and fresh Portuguese comedies, but it's only possible to find trash, and I'm sure that 7 Pecados Rurais is the king of all trash.

Don't Waste your time

I am a big supporter of Portuguese movies so I try to see as much as I can. This was one of the most seen Portuguese movies of 2013 so I was curious.

This is a movie adaptation of a TV show called TeleRural which is a caricature of some Portuguese stereotypes taken to the extreme. Personally I can't say I was disappointed because I already knew the type of humor depicted here.

It is a waste of time. It's a bad and very plain story, with a very particular type of acting that I don't enjoy. The type of humor is very one dimensional, sex based and nothing else. The script is weak to say the least, the actors don't shine (how could they), all in all it is a very amateurish experience.

A waste of time and resources.

Made for Portuguese

It's the kind of humor that will please the ones that like simple and stupid humor. Most expressions are taken from northern Portuguese. Almost like "Top Secret" or Kusturica for portuguese culture.

Not to please to everione but to this that are open minded to simple humor. The most educated people are the best you appreciate simple things.

It's a bad movie, but we already knew what we were going to see.

What can I say about this movie? For an ordinary movie fan, its surely a movie to forget. Its tailored to the humorous taste of João Paulo Rodrigues and Pedro Alves, and is the mirror of Portuguese popular comedy, full of profanity and implied sexual allusions.

João Paulo Rodrigues and Pedro Alves are comedians who have made their way in the Portuguese comedy scene through "stand-up" and improv joke. Its a kind of humor that pleases the ordinary people but has no refinement whatsoever and is, therefore, subject to criticism from the most demanding and educated audiences. Television consecrated them through several shows and ultimately gave them their own TV show, the "Telerural", where the two humorists already presented the universe that this film develops: a small village in the rural North of Portugal called Curral de Moinas, where Quim and Zé live. Its a universe where all the stereotypes about the Portuguese countryside are carried to an extreme, mixing a lot of allusions to sexuality, religion, sport, political criticism and others.

From the very beginning, the movie makes clear what kind of humor is going to be presented, and anyone who has seen an episode of Telerural knows it in advance. In fact, this movie has already been made with their audience in mind. Of course it was a success! Both comedians were very popular thanks to his TV show and a large legion of admirers joined this film, making it the most viewed Portuguese film of year 2013. There was no way to be otherwise. It was not thanks to its quality that this movie was seen, but thanks to the popularity of the two actors involved.

In fact, the movie has no quality. Its virtually a very large version of a Telerural episode, and has television movie features. The poor script is only a basis for an unbroken succession of dubious jokes. The audience that went to see this movie wants to laugh, wants to see what they saw on TV, and that's what the movie is concerned with. There is no concern in presenting a compelling or appealing plot. Everything in this movie smells amateurish, including the extras and sets.

The only thing that stands out for the positive is the performance of the two actors: João Paulo Rodrigues and Pedro Alves are chameleons, capable of incorporating several characters. In this movie, they didn't show their full potential (in some episodes of Telerural they did better than in this movie), but their ability to represent several distinct characters in the same movie is nonetheless positive. Even if we hate the kind of comedy they do.
