Linda Reagan returns!
Racingphan210 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It's awesome to see the return of one of the prettiest actresses on television! Amy Carlson was amazing as Danny Reagan's wife Linda on Blue Bloods, and returns here as the wife of SVUs boss, Terry Serpico. Of course, he's better known from his time on Army Wives.

This episode was unfortunately dragged down by the boring ongoing storyline that has ruined this whole season so far. Multi story arcs are best left to those rarely watched boutique series on bizarre streaming services.

Can some network please stand up and build a series around the amazing Ms. Carlson? Please and thank you.

I just need 7 more characters.

Duty to Report

Warning: Spoilers
The Tommy McGrath character always felt really bizarre and weird and not a natural fit so I hope that this is the end of him here, but who knows? This was an exciting case and it posed some of the problematic and tough choices SVU is forced to confront when evaluating these things: how hard do they go after minors, both the victims and the oppressors?

Exciting and entertaining episode, but some of the behavior of the parents felt off and did not make a lot of sense. Nevertheless, SVU has been having a really quality start to the season and I hope they can continue this momentum that they are on right now.

Feels like old svu again!!
sdrdpqx13 February 2024
This has been the most enjoyable episode of the season so far! Feels like old svu again. I do wish that the show would stop taking short cuts and show actual court room scenes again. The storyline felt fresh in a way. I hope to see more women in the squad. If they kept Rollins and Muncy it would be perfect. One last thing to add is I feel like the show took a turn within the last few years with each episode having "to prove a point" it's so serious these days. I miss when the show was upbeat and had life, now it just seems like everything is so serious and it's very dark and dreary. I did love this episode, if the season keeps approaching every episode with this style then I can see a good future for svu.

Seriously? Benson taking in another stray?
lurch39412 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, Manhattan SVU has too many "Y chromosomes" in addition to being shorthanded. And I liked Captain Curry from the beginning. I never liked Chief McGrath, but Serpico made him human, especially in this episode.

But come on! How could Benson bring in another captain? I don't care how many strings are pulled.

In addition, is Benson Kryptonite to her bosses? First Cragen, then Dodds, Garland, and finally McGrath. Unless Wolf and company bring in a new character, how about Alexandra Eames? I'm sure by now she could be a one-star chief or at least an inspector. Is Kathryn Erbe interested and available? Maybe St. Olivia should answer to a woman.

Is AI writing this?

Warning: Spoilers
SVU has been on a downward trend for a while, but the past few seasons have turned what was a slow decline into a nosedive of epic proportion. So much of this season does not make sense from a simple logistical point of view. For instance, in the second episode Benson sprints into traffic thinking that she has spotted a van similar to the one that an abducted girl was seen inside in the first episode. Did Benson forget that they already found the van? She couldn't have since she is still wearing the bracelet as a reminder of her promise to the girl's mother to find her, which she found inside the van, so how could she have forgotten that the team already located the van? Does she think there is a criminal conspiracy using numerous ridiculously coloured vans abducting young women in New York? A similarly bizarre logical error occurred in this episode when the victim's parents claim that their daughter admitted to covering the security cameras with smiley face stickers only after being confronted with the fact that similar ones could be found in her bedroom. Do her parents not have access to their own security cameras which captured their daughter covering the cameras with these stickers which was shown to the audience well in advance of this scene? This episode in that of itself is not terrible, but every SVU episode as of late is littered with plot holes and illogical characters who behave in a bizarre fashion simply because the plot necessitates it. Exemplifying that was the son in this episode who, after one witness claims to have heard the victim allege he committed a crime, decided to confess and accept a plea deal while no other evidence was offered and the victim herself refused to testify. Why would he do this? Oh right, because the episode was running out of time and the writer's room needed to bring the story to an abrupt end. I understand that with the writer's strike many of these scripts were probably sped along, I only wish the producer's had decided to wait until more coherent stories could have been developed as the show is turning into a farce.

Horrible sound.
Jeffdice197510 February 2024
I have been watching old episodes of this series and have noticed a distinct difference in the sound quality coming from the production. The sounds are all muffled with a shhhh sound. I am having trouble keeping track of who is speaking and when, and it sounds like the people are running their words together. I checked myself and immediately played an old episode from 20 years ago and the sound is definitely different. Also, the writers are doing a horrible job. The storylines are ridiculous. And it sounds like the actors are dragging out their lines to cover time, rather than putting good dialogue into the show.
