When Batman: The Brave and the Bold debuted on Cartoon Network back in 2008, many fans were understandably hesitant when it came to seeing a lighter take on the Caped Crusader than had been witnessed in animation for some time. But lo and behold, said animated series found much success throughout the course of its three seasons by retaining the tongue-in-cheek nature of the TV show starring Adam West and utilizing the vastness of the DC Universe in a way similar to Justice League Unlimited. Really, it’s no wonder why some felt it rivaled Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond in terms of quality.
Since its cancellation in 2011, none of us thought we’d ever be seeing the Hammers of Justice again, especially since no direct-to-video movie swiftly followed the series finale. Now, six years later, the folks at Warner Bros. Animation have decided to dust off the franchise...

The spotlight shines on far more than the core trio of iconic stars of Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. With the likes of primetime television veterans Steven Weber and Thomas Lennon leading the way, the full-length animated feature film boasts a supporting cast of notable voices from across all entertainment mediums and some of the best-loved animated properties.
Adam West (Batman), Burt Ward (Robin) and Julie Newmar (Catwoman) own top billing, but Weber (Wings, iZombie, NCIS: New Orleans) and Lennon (The Odd Couple, Reno 911!) – as trustworthy butler Alfred Pennyworth and Chief O’Hara, respectively – headline an impressive array of actors who were excited to give voice to a role in a Batman film.
In addition to Weber and Lennon, the cast includes:
Jeff Bergman as the Joker and the revered Announcer. Bergman is well known as a voice of Bugs Bunny for more than a quarter of a century...

A recurring topic on the Los Fanboys Podcast has been Kellvin and Joseph sparring with me about whether or not we'll see a rated-r Batman or Superman movie. I've always maintained that it would never happen, and that WB/DC would never be stupid enough to release an R-rated movie about one of these legacy characters in theaters. Well, for now, it looks like both sides of this argument are right.
While WB/DC went with the PG-13 cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice for its theatrical release, they've already revealed that the extended version that's coming on blu-ray will be rated R. Now comes word that the next big DC animated feature, Batman: The Killing Joke, will be given the same adult rating.
"From the start of production, we encouraged producer Bruce Timm and our team at Warner Bros. Animation to remain faithful to the original story...

Do you long for the more innocent days when Adam West and Burt Ward raced across your television in Technicolor glory battling the charismatic villains of Gotham City? When you think of the Joker, does a Latino actor who refused to shave his mustache come to mind before Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson? Do you constantly find yourself wondering where the "Pow's" and the "Bam's" are as you sit through the Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan Dark Knight films? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then Batman '66 Volume 1 is tailor-made for you!
DC Comics releases the first five print issues of Batman '66 for fans of the psychedelic and campy romp we all grew up with. I specifically remember watching the series at my babysitter's house after school every chance I could get. If you prefer your Caped Crusader a little less gloomy and a little more fun,...

Batman ’66 Vol 1
Written by Jeff Parker
Drawn by Jonathan Case, Ty Templeton, Joe Quinones, Sandy Jarrell, Ruben Procopio and Colleen Coover
Published by DC Comics
Is there another fictional character who has so many clearly identifiable and distinct incarnations as Batman does? There’s the original, Silver Age Batman, Neal Adams’ Batman, Frank Miller, Tim Burton, Bruce Timm, Christopher Nolan and so many other clear and different visual and narrative approaches to the character, each one signifying a distinct vision to the character. It’s all Batman, from the Dark Knight to the urban vigilante to the sleek animated hero. But then there’s the version that embarrassed comic fans for years, the Adam West version from the 1966 Batman television show. Growing up, we called it campy and silly. We called it a humiliation of a comic character that was maybe taken a bit too seriously for a bit too long.

Murakami also discusses how the show seeks to keep the new villains from looking like carbon copies of Batman's more traditional rogue's gallery, i.e. keeping Cluemaster from being a poor man's Riddler or Magpie from being a Poison Ivy knockoff. There's a lot more insight from Glen in the video above about some of the behind-the-scenes decision-making on the show. Be sure to tune in tomorrow for an all new episode which contains the debut of the season's main villain, Anarky.
