Good job Ufotable

I love they are adding scenes to the original manga. The training with Uzui was super cool and adding Tanjiro vs half Tengen shows how strong a hashira truly is, we all know Tanjiro is strong. But most of his strength comes from powerups and op breathing styles. Hashiras are just insane when it comes to technique and physical strength.

Plus Iguro vs Sanemi was exciting, I wish we can see it later, but I don't think they'll animate it. Also the interaction between the rookies and Tanjiro were great.

All of this just gives so much more meaning and background to the episode. It feels like it's not so rushed as the manga sometimes seems to be.

Tanjiro = Buffjiro

Nothing too special, but good to have Tanjiro finally joining the Hashira Geiko-ken. He pretty much unlocked all the boss fights before the average noob fights. Even though the average Demon Slayer Corps slayers are having a very hard time in Tengen Uzui's stamina and strength training, Tanjiro served as an inspiration to them and encouraged them to try harder. However, this does not mean that the average slayers just straight up become badass slayers, cuz it would be lame. Otherwise, I am really looking forward to what happens in the next episode with Muichiro, as they really spent quite a lot of time in Swordsmith Village.

Adding Anime-Original Scenes the Right Way
Manjirou30 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I am not the biggest fan of anime-original content. I feel that it detracts from the writing of the actual author who wrote the story; interjecting it with non-canon material that the audience now has to treat as canon. However, I think Episode 3 of the Hashira Training Arc actually does a fairly good job at doing this.

It's pretty widely known that this episode only adapts about a page of content from the manga. Tanjirou goes to Uzui's training, stays there for 10 days, then moves on to the next Hashira's training - Muichiro. Yet, they somehow made an entire episode out of that. Instead of interjecting entirely irrelevant content that has nothing to do with the actual story, they actually just filled out those 10 days of training in a way that feels wholly authentic to the show.

We see all of the training that Tanjirou actually did, along with a sparring session with Tengen. New dialogue also helped round out Tengen's character and put an end to his arc in the story. Basically, whatever you could have imagined in your head that happened throughout those 10 days of training, the studio just animated that into an episode.

Also, some cuts throughout Tengen's sparring with the Demon Slayer Corps & Tanjirou, along with the final one at the end of the episode with Muichiro, were just really well done.

The only negatives I have for this episode is that some of the dialogue felt needless. Tengen's wives talking in turn and finishing each other's thought processes as if they are a hivemind, or flashing us back to the Entertainment District Arc, were also not my favorite things ever. But you can't really blame that on the author, as they never wrote that in, nor did it greatly affect my enjoyment of this episode.

This season is about to be a filler
chkalov_ivan3 June 2024
This series contains only 1.5 PAGE from the manga. The rest is pointless filler that is made only to consume your time. This year's movie has about 6.0 review score and it is a big quality drop in comparison to the brilliant "Mugen Train" movie (they continue going in the same direction as a whole). Me, and probably solid percentage of community expected this season to have the "Infinity castle" arc start, because Hashira training arc was supposed to take 4-5 series only (manga has 9 chapters). But I suppose they will keep stretching source material as long as people will keep watching, since the next series contains only 3 pages of manga... Will people keep watching though, that's another question.
