"Runaway" is set in a bizarre world where refrigerators are anthropomorphic---with arms, legs, faces and personalities. One of these refrigerators, Chillie, is worried. His handle just broke off and he assumes his owner is going to replace him with a much newer model. So, he decides to just drag himself off to the junk pile and save his beloved owner the trouble!
"Runaway" was made by several students at the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Emily Buchanan, Esther Parobek and Susan Huen Sin Yung all collaborated to write and animate this cute CG film. And, because it's a student film, I won't rate it or hold it to the same standards I would a professional film. This is because although the film's computer animation lacks a bit of polish (after all, they are NOT Pixar!), I don't want to discourage these young people. They have a lot of talent and need your encouragement and support. And, speaking of this, the project was apparently created thanks to a Kickstarter campaign. So, keep your eyes out for Emily, Esther and Susan--with a student collaboration THIS good, I expect to see really amazing stuff from them in the future.
