A Solid parody of Theronos/Elizabeth Holmes
preillyboss8 November 2023
A solid satirical take of the plethera of documentaries charting Elizabeth Holmes' silicon valley fraud campaign. Some of the stand out comedy takes aim at the Ken Burns documentary style with a brief wink at his baseball documentaries, a sly jab at the expense of Elon Musk and twitter, and fairly amusing NDA running joke that leads to a character lamenting that its still better then working for Zuckerberg. While writing continues the trend of feeling fresher and more nuanced and the Theronos topic is still virgin territory for comedy writing the overall plot still feels like a rehash of Mr Burns centric episode "A Hunka Hunka Burns in Love". Overall a quality episode in what has been another inspired season of the Simpsons.

Good but does have some issues
ElizaWasHere83222 November 2023
I have mixed thoughts on this episode. I like that the makers of the show are experimenting with new themes. I thought it was fun to do the documentary spoof about an Elizabeth Holmes-type character. It was quite good I would say but I was not a fan of the relationship of Burns and Percephonie and there were little things here and there that I was not a fan of. But I liked the big reveal that the whole LifeBoat thing is a fraud, but I would think that more Springfield residents would be suspicious that is a fraud, for example Professer Frink, the chief engineer, wasn't allowed to look in the machine that was being sold. Or Springfield residents are more dumb than I thought... But it was a good episode overall and it is worth a watch.

Insane animation quality, not bad episode
notsiQ30 October 2023
The animation and background quality has increased alot in recent years, it's very impressive that they are able to do this while constantly losing viewers.

This is obviously another experimental episode and they nailed the documentary style from the opening all the way till the very end.

The thing is alot of references and jokes seemed way too specific and a common theme with newer episodes is that they run out of time so fast and have to rush the ending even without the intro and couch gag.

But still, pretty solid episode, I genuinly don't understand why there are so many 1 star ratings though.

Wow how original another Documentary style episode

Right The Simpsons is officially dead I keep hoping that it bounces back to its glorious years but that's clearly not happening with the writers they've got and the crap they keep pushing out on the public the show is dead rest in peace The Simpsons it'll never come back to its glorious years the sooner they end this torture and cancel it the better we will be but of course that won't happen because the brain dead morons who consistently delude themselves by saying what a great show it still is like the ones trying to convince you this was a great episode pure delusion it is a lame episode has been done to death they've done multiple documentary style episodes none have been good this is the worse Insure this is just a rip-off of the other documentary style episodes that have been done and the storyline is pretty much the same as the episode we're Mr Burns tries to use the governor for his own benefit same damn thing here the college chick uses Mr Burns to her benefit it's boring and I've lost all hope the Simpsons are ever gonna return to its glory years.

I love the simpsons but this episode was not it
hannahkaduncan2 November 2023
The animation quality has definitely improved but the overall quality of the show has went down. The episode was dull and boring. The plot was bizarre. I had to turn it off halfway. I've never seen a Simpsons episode this bad. The first few episodes this season were okay but this episode was just terrible. They should definitely try to return to the old quality of their episodes with great plots and dynamic between the characters. There is a reason no one watches the Simpsons anymore really. On a more positive note they could definitely return back to their old quality just with the better animation. But so far they have not.

A great episode
dlmiley1 November 2023
This was one of the better episodes of "The Simpsons". It is a great parody of Elizabeth Holmes "Theranos". Burns backs and marries Persephone Odair (Elizabeth Banks) who has invented a black box the size of a coffee can ("Lifeboat") that convert sea water into drinking water. As I mentioned, there are obvious parallels to the Theranos debacle with the methodology being secret and clandestine efforts to uncover the truth behind the mystery of how the Lifeboat product actually works. Of course, there is a whistleblower to bring out the truth. With guest stars including Andrew Ross Sorkin, Ken Burns, Peter Coyote and Kara Swisher as part of the story, I laughed out loud several times. I was surprised to see the relatively low rating for such a standout episode. Why anyone would rate this episode below a 7 or 8 defies my imagination.

More Rubbish from a dying franchise
MrMovieReviewer28 November 2023
Well what can be said about this mess I keep holding out hope that the Simpsons will be good again and I just keep getting this rubbish..........

In short it's a documentary episode which they've done before nothing original and it's a lame documentary episode that basically some young business woman uses Mr Burns for his money she marries him for his cash to finance her company and yeah that's about it I won't say anything else other than its diabolical I couldn't even finish it I turned it off with about 10 minutes ago I just couldn't watch anymore it is one of these The Simpsons is close to death and episodes like this do nothing to bring it back.... The actress who plays the business woman is horrible and rather annoying.

Boring, Unfunny, and Unsimpson Like
e_daneva16 December 2023
Thirst Trap: A Corporate Love Story is a terrible episode. There are seven episodes in this season so far. There is 1 bad episode, 1 okay episode, and 6 pretty good episodes. This is the bad episode. First of all Thirst Trap: A Corporate Love Story is really boring, so it is hard to even Las through the episode. Second of all Thirst Trap isn't funny. It never even tried to tell a joke. Last of all, the episode was unsimpson like. I know this was based off of a real event, but this is just way too real life. They need to Simsonize the story to make it good and right. One other thing they probably should have done is replaced the lady with a Simpsons character that already exists, say Ruth Powers. In all, I give this a 3.0 out of 10.
