Not impressed
cheryllwynn3 September 2023
I was so eager to watch this when it popped up in my feed on Peacock... But was very disappointed in the acting.... The storyline itself wasn't too bad but all in all it was not impressive. I will say out of all the characters Drew's was the best but even saying that I wasn't into it the way I thought I would be. Interesting twist/plot. I love me some Kandi but her acting in this was very weak and boring. Pretty much like the others. I have no ideal why they even cast Shemia in this. Good grief. I was really hoping I would like this tho since I'm a fan of RHOA so I wanted to see something good happen for Todd. I just wasn't impressed.

yay! Drew!
maralinas14 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
If it wasn't for Drew Sidora, this would've been another very bad attempt at a movie, she was charming, vulnerable and i was believing her story, now all the other actors, terrible!

At times it felt like a housewives spinoff, even Shamea made it in.

And definitely the judge is related to Kandi, she looks like Mama Joyce.

It's a great attempt for Todd, as his first film, but next time get a better production artist and art director, some of the camera shots felt too flat like the camera was just recording whatever on a stand, for example, the scene of Drew & her husband at the dining table, the vases at the center of the table take too much space, and it's very distracting, the camera was too close.

Kandi's acting was not the best here, it was like she was playing herself and was a bit bored, (kinda like in housewives).

But overall, for a first film it's a success, and good thing that at the end everything is explained, because i spent most of the time wondering what happened, how the partner switched and i kept waiting for a backtrack, there should've been a little bit of how Drew ended up w/ her that first time.

Plot twist was good
myohmy-691 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I had to rewind because I thought I missed something but I didn't. The story line wasn't as fluent as it needed to be to make it a great movie.

Drew was awesome per usual. Erica is getting better with every low budget movie she does. The sex scene between them was Cringey at first because who gives oral so hard? I was also confused because I could have sworn Drew left with a man.

Building up the characters would have been helpful as the characters seemed all over the place. I'm also confused about why a pass was given.. I could see if the marriage was in trouble or if they wanted to spice things up a bit but to just randomly suggest a pass didn't make sense.

Seeing the"Best Friend" set him up was a bit of but made sense at the end.

5 starts due to the plot twist and Drew.

Just... painful to watch (SMALL spoiler)
kat-569127 September 2023
Props to Candi and Todd for making a "low budget" film through their respective companies. However, this is not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination. The "actors" seem like some attractive people who were plucked from the street and given roles, the storyline isn't cohesive, there is no character development, no arc, nothing. What irked me the most is that the whole movie is based on giving someone a "pass" in marriage to see other people, but there was absolutely no reason for this couple to come to this decision! They weren't having intimacy issues or romance issues. It made no sense to see other people just because the main character's mom is meddling in their lives! The whole setup for why they did it in the first place didn't make any sense, and it's what the whole movie is about!

While I think it's wonderful to support your community and people you like from TV, coming on here to give this movie a 10/10 and write things like "great plot and acting!" and "must see!! Keep them coming!" like you've never seen Fences or Set It Off or Brown Sugar, is not doing anyone any favors. Not the producers who may think this is actually worth watching, not the actors who will think they don't need to improve, and most certainly NOT the viewers who are expecting a half decent film. This movie is not good.

I can appreciate wanting to make a flim, but this is a prime example of "just because you have the means to, doesn't mean you should".

Disappointing
dmxxyb29 August 2023
I hate to say it because I absolutely love Todd and Kandi, but I couldn't even finish this movie. I enjoyed the plot line, but the acting was so bad it ruined it all for me. I hope they do another project with better acting. Kandi did a great job, but I expect nothing less from her. Seriously, every other actor/actress made my skin crawl. The dramatic responses were so overly dramatic it made me think of a high school play. And I don't know if it was intentional, but the mother reminded me of someone very real in Todd and Kandi's life. Sadly I will not recommend this movie to anyone. Thumbs down from me.

honeysucklemccrane2 September 2023
Unlike most guessed ending about 7 minutes in and while giving some actors props that first scene when they were touring the house - just absolutely painful - those silences that lingered - Drew tried to carry it against the overacting 101 she was up against but no one could put lipstick on that pig Was actually looking forward but to this but honestly it just was not worth 90 minutes of my life If you're a Real Housewives of Atlanta fan can see you clicking this on Peacock but even with that you may find it a slog to get through to the end - or just fast forward to the final 5 minutes Guess for a first movie attempt at really low budget maybe the movie gets a pass too but next time spend the money so all your actors are of the same level.

Better than expected
daniellecbrown736 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Like most, I watched this because I'm a Real housewives of Atlanta fan but I came in with low expectations. Drew did a good job, still a low budget/ tv actress calibre but better than expected. The premise was delivered a little bluntly, like there was no build up to why a 'pass' would be needed which would have given more meat to the storyline. The part I struggled with was Drew setting all the rules for the pass, yet breaking them. That said, she was 'the mark' so if you're being manipulated by someone who knows your character then I suspect it's more difficult to walk away. The other issue is, the entire 'pass' premise was created by everyone in on the con so if she did discuss it with anyone, they'd lTer deny it.

Girl got played by professional cons.

Did not see the ending coming at all, just thought the husband was looking for a payday, which he was, just not in the way I imagined.

Actually a great storyline and considering it's Todd's first movie, he did a great job. I love Kandi but that woman needs to give her husband his space to succeed on his own. She has enough ventures and lord knows her judgemental mother played a bit of inspiration in this movie, although in his real life, it's justified!!!

Drew and the Best Friend Were Amazing...
mbbuyy28 August 2023
Watch it if you have nothing else better to do. Drew Sidora is a star!!! She did the best she could with what she had. She's an amazing actress, period. The woman who played the best friend also deserves accolades, that's all I got. Kandi should've remained off screen and stayed behind the scenes. It wasn't necessarily a bad plot, just far fetched and over the top. Makes me wonder if Todd is setting up Kandi for the okie lol...but no, on a serious note, it's not bad. I definitely wouldn't watch again, nor would I recommend it, but Drew did a really great job. We knew from watching her on The Game that she was a winner. Kandi, stick to writing songs. Todd, stick to mooching.

Brilliant

Warning: Spoilers
Brilliant. The ending was insane and shocking a bit. 7 years of a game. Only downside. The dang mic sound when she was crying or swallowing or trying to talk serious was too much and honestly drew could have not made those scenes of drama and poor me not so loud. Irritated me...but also story was a little one sided. She was mad he was using pass over one night but she was too!!! So that made no sense. Otherwise brillant...again the spit noises were yuck. I hate those sounds. Can anyone relate?! Lol. I'm a Real Housewives of Atlanta fan so I've seen the writing and the actors prepping so was happy for them! Good job minus the noise..work on noise todd!

Not my cup of tea lol
rashaungundy13 September 2023
It was like a dry ass soft porno...1 star for effort, I just expected more. Of course their fan base will love it. The acting is horrible and the plot is ridiculous, I mean damn how many unnecessary twist and turns you want us to take. If you're gonna have that many sex scenes at least have some top tier acting to go with it. It was like I was watching something from the 90s. The cast members were dressed nice and I did not see any microphones in the wigs so it wasn't all bad I guess. I don't know seem like it was all over the place if they cut back on some of the twist and turns it would've possibly made more sense. My girlfriend was into it though.

PLOT TWISTY AF
lydianaudrea29 August 2023
Wow! This was such a creative story line. You think it's one thing, it evolves into another. Just when you think you got it figured it out...BAM! Plot twist.

This was definitely not your typical "Pass" movie. If you ask me, it surpasses them all. It does have an ounce of low budget vibes, but I think they filmed this in 10 days. Which is honestly super shocking considering. Also I think they filmed the majority of it Kandi's house.

Kandi's character also cracked me up! It was so fun getting to watch her play the feisty friend. I couldn't tell she was acting.

I'm ready for the next Todd & Kandi film!!

Kandi - you're an amazing SINGER, maybe stick to that talent
oldstuffvintagestore30 August 2023
Its not so much about the low budget, kudos to that....its more about making a real FILM. Todd did that...However I agree with the others, over doing scenes does not make better scenes. Rushing to get a film finished can lead to lesser quality acting and scenes. I just don't think Kandi should be acting. Even in The Chi her skills are forced . Clearly. You DON'T HAVE TO BE AN ACTRESS KANDI! It's ok to be a singer, producer, director....but acting is definitely not your talent. Drew is always a great actress, I just think her personal stress from her clearly unloyal husband really has her off her game....but don't let that squash her future.... Hollywood aka Tyler Perry really needs to start casting Drew Sidora . We do get tired of seeing the same black women constantly in acting roles that im certain ALOT of other black women are equally talented for. Todd has good direction, he's just focused on budget when clearly that shouldn't be a major factor. Afterall im sure his wife isn't skimping on her productions/ products etc...how much money do y'all need to make??? Too many irons in the fire.... Make another film Todd, with only your name headlining.

Pitiful with a capital P
thirtythreesa31 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
How long did Todd want to produce this ? Why in the world was this filmed in Kandi's atrociously decorated home ? And surely she has more than one queen or king size bed. So why on earth did they have to use HER bed ?

And Maurice waited 7 years.... for what ? And EVERYBODY was in on this foolishness ? The critical mother couldn't see through this husband. This movie is stupid AF!!

Since Kandi played a badly acted role I guess she approves of this BS.

I have to use 600 words for this to post so that's why I'm still typing. I have been done with this review of this stupidity. How embarrassing for Kandi and Todd.

Holes in writing
leaflores-9200519 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There were some holes in the storyline. The random fight outside the occurred outside the restaurant. It eluded that Ninas husband had something shady going on in Boston. However, we never find out what it was about. The girl on girl scene with Nina and Tara that happened randomly even though Nina left the bar with a man. I wondered if she was drugged, but then she acts normal like she remembered everything and goes back for more. What happened between dancing in the bar and leaving with the guy to all the sudden having an orgasm in bed with her boss?! The movie was confusing and jumped around a lot without context or smooth transitions.

Drew Sidora is the only actor - movie screams low budget
ginapierce-2419117 September 2023
A few things: I don't like being negative but the 2 stars are for Drew's acting and Todd for his first movie. The -8 stars are for the following harsh but honest observations: There are a few decent amateur actors like Drew's mom & boss but every other actor was awful! Very hard to watch.

Personally, I think Todd & Kandi had the oppty to elevate our people and not use the "N" word but apparently they think that's how all AA speak to each other which is sad. Not 1 man in the entire film had screen appeal and their acting was cringey. Drew's sex scene was the only thing that demonstrated acting.

Warning: Spoilers
The movie was great all the performers did an amazing job .. Drew Sidora was top notch she was wonderful I really felt her character on screen she deserves great recognition . Great to see Kandi playing a villain she was awesome !!! .Erica Peeples great job , Todd tucker he has talent that I would like to see more ..and in different genres .Bobby Huntley did an excellent job as director .I watched it twice .my only negative comment is that it confused me with the plot twist if all the characters were in on it then why show them having a conversation of the pass when it's was a set up from the start . .twist at the end .. .. a sequel needs to happen Please !!! Nina's story needs to continue. She deserves justice . My heart broke for her at the end ..

I personally think it was Great For a First time Screen Writer.. And Honestly Could Have had an 10!! Wouldn't have know how quickly the Production was put together if we weren't honestly told... I Think it's worth the watch and would recommend the authenticity.. Great Job! Keep up with The Great Work looking forward to seeing what's next, and How you all grow and motive our Black Community with anything is possible!!!! If this product was put together to film in ten days.. In my opinion The Burruss Family and Team our setting the bar to what it takes to achieve Goals and Dreams... I also believe each and every Actor and Actress did very well. You Honestly Deserve 10 Stars... Again you All are Amazing Keep up the Great Work..

Low budget AF but Todd got me with that plot twist
nicholeguerra27 September 2023
There are already three other movies with this SAME title!! You got me with that plot twist though! BUT... If the couple was in love why the need for THE PASS??? That made no sense and it didn't make any sense that he was upgrading her ring, again why the need for THE PASS?? Not to mention when the wife offered him the pass he accepted with no hesitation!!! Shouldn't that have been kinda sketchy to her??The fact that she was laughing and giggling with him accepting her pass right there on the spot was weird too! If I were in that situation I'd be like ohh heck no!! That boss of hers was soooooo desperate it was awkward!! Not a bad first movie for Todd though!! I've just never seen Todd and Kandis house as this "Grand" house to set up a movie in where the couple is suppose to be " loaded" the bathroom was all wrong with the glitter walls and round gold mirror. I like the lines of the mom.. you ain't s**t you ain't EVA gonna be s**t!! Haha why did the mom call her daughter a winner at the end that didn't make sense! She said you're still a winner, I got you! I was like huh?? Without the three minute plot twist at the end the movie would've been awful! Oh Gawd and the intimate scenes were very painful to watch, I had like one eye covered trying to get through it....

Decent watch
allisonmdunne29 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First and foremost I only watched this because I love Drew and Kandi ! I was pleasantly surprised I thought Drew did a great job with the role ( I think drew is a good actress ) I like how kandi played a smaller role In the film.

The plot was good it was a little obvious what was going to happen pretty early on ( wish the "pass" wasn't with her husbands best friend !) clearly he would know - that last killed it a bit for me.

If they had tried harder planning the reveal and making it less obvious it would hand made the movie so much better.

I would suggest this movie though, kept me entertained.

Multilayered Drama
mendymariamKE31 August 2023
This film follows Nina (Drew Sidora) and Maurice (Rob Riley), a married couple who decide to explore an unconventional idea - a "hall pass" from fidelity.

What starts as a straightforward concept takes an unexpected turn,

leading to deception and intrigue.

The film's clever storytelling keeps viewers on the edge, surprising them with unexpected plot twists just when they think they've figured it all out.

In "The Pass," creative storytelling and gripping intrigue blend seamlessly to deliver an engaging cinematic experience.

While Kandi shines on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and in her music career, her foray into acting might not be her strongest suit.

Her performances lack conviction and appear somewhat lackluster. In "The Pass," her portrayal falls a bit short, lacking the necessary depth.

However, the film remains enjoyable, especially with a glass of wine in hand. The drama.

Chi Towns Finest in full effect
tblack-9832229 August 2023
It was Drew for me! As usual I support all things Chicago and since Kandi is in the tv show "The Chi" I thought why not support the film. I had no idea the plot would take so many turns. Drew was awesome and played her vulnerable yet sexy self very well. They could not have made better casting choices. The best friend/lover was also extremely sexy which made their love seems hard to not rewind and watch again. Great watch and it didn't seem like the budget was big but Congrats Todd and Kandi this accomplishment should open doors for your next project. I have loved Kandi since Xscape and am so proud to see her continue to grow and move into new lanes without fear. Legacy is important to the Kandi and an EGOT is surely in her future. When's the next film coming out Todd? I almost can't wait 😉.

Good But Bad
gabbysmimi1 September 2023
First let Me just say that I absolutely Love Todd, Kandi, nd Drew. That being said, I feel like it was a great plot twist but hard to watch because of the "acting" it also seemed a little all over the place. I really like Kandi as a singer but not so much as an actress. I like Drew as an actress nd singer because that girl has some crazy talent. Nd Todd... well, he's Kandi's Husband. I really feel like he's trying to find something to do that he's good at other than owning restaurants. Back to the movie though, I don't think I'd watch it again because I fought through til the end the first time.

No.
indiadesarea26 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think Kandi and Todd are giving these high ratings cause the script makes no sense. I think Ace wrote it which is the only logical reason as to why it's underdeveloped.

I mean this man wanted a pass but is underemployed employed and couldn't afford the ring his wife wanted. BFFR. As someone mentioned they had no issues outside of him being UNDEREMPLOYED.

Thinking back on an episode of RHOA, Todd was stressing Kandi out about working on his movie and I pray this was it lol.

Also, a lot of elements of this movie reminds me of Kandi and Todd's life as well. Rich woman, broke man, mean mother.

Anyway don't watch this.

Entertaining a good Plot twist.
eprice-9175028 August 2023
The Pass was filled with drama, good acting, and quite seductive. Throughout the movie it kept me entertained, and trying to dissect as to where the story line was trying to go. It's filled with drama, scandals, love, heartbreak, and infidelity. The most important part is how things ended in this movie. I was quite pleased only because It's not your typical ending, instead it gave me a plot twist that you may, or may not have seen coming, but not like every other drama film with the same ending! One thing for sure is that not every movie has a happy ending. This was well written, and Well done!

Hands down the Best Movie of 2023! You must see!
jaefranklin-8312229 August 2023
I am HIGHLY impressed! This movie was EXTREMELY intriguing! It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat! And the plot twist...let's just say...it's the last thing that you would ever expect! Some say that this story line is like so many others. I totally disagree. It's so good that I've watched it 3 times already and will watch it again tonight! With most movies I get distracted with social media and it takes me a while to actually sit through the entire movie. Not with this one! Do me a favor, grab your popcorn and maybe a glass of wine and enjoy! The directors and cast did an amazing job with this production. Huge shout out to Todd and Kandi Tucker for writing and producing this! Outstanding job! I can't wait to see more! Thank you!
