I have come to an epic conclusion: either every writer in this show is on something or I'm going mentally insane. After the last episodes, Candy Crushed and Master of Dumblusion, I wasn't really expecting much with these episodes. But uh... christ. These episodes have a few things I really can't stand, mostly in Tough Guise but Bye Bye Birthday is very stupid as well.
A big complaint me and many other outgrown fans of this show have agreed that this show is not the type that needs fantasy elements. Well, hope you're ready to see bs Harry Potter magic in this episode combined with one of the most boring main characters in this show! Speaking of the spells, the sequences when Lucy was getting everyone together to set-up and remove the spell were absolutely only included to expand runtime.
You could pretty much sum this episode up in one word: predictable. That's not my biggest problem (as I've stated in other reviews that predictability doesn't make something bad, as long as you had fun during it), however it really lowers the entertainment value. If something already so good has a predictable ending, it doesn't matter much to me. But when an episode like this that's bad all throughout has a predictable ending? That's kinda where I draw the line. The second this episode's plot was revealed I knew how it was gonna be? What do ya know, I was effing right.
It is somewhat cute to see Lucy reminiscing, but it doesn't help this episode... like, at all. The Morticians Club are still as bad as they've been since A Grave Mistake, who still haven't been redeemed yet... All I'm saying is this episode is very bad, one of the worst in the season so far. I don't get why someone said this episode is better than Candy Crushed (you know who you are). 2/10, birthday episodes are usually fun but at this rate I'd rather watch Disney's Primos.
Now, for Tough Guise. If I wasn't upset before you could certainly say I am now. I'm not one to go Mr. Enter on an episode, but holy christ was this episode terrible. It reminded me of No Bus, No Fuss, one of the worst episodes in season 5. All of these episodes where it's just "Lincoln and friends do things for 11 minutes" are usually some of the worst, just look at how Dumblusion turned out.
The main complaint I have with this episode is its messaging. It basically just says "act a certain way until someone turns into someone not-so that way, then you can reveal your true colors". It also has the overused peer pressure... can we stop with this already? It was dead after 2006.
Also, I don't even like Lincoln's friends (except for Stella), so seeing an entire episode centered on Zach... why am I supposed to care? I mean, in short it's pretty much just useless. Zach gains some friends but got nothing else out of this episode. I guarantee Taylor, Pablo, and Tyler aren't gonna come back in future episodes. I'm literally betting 100 bucks here, take my darn money!
This episode is also horribly unfunny, especially since the main plot doesn't start moving until half way in, y'all wasted so much time on useless exposition and filler!
Seriously, what else is there to say? 1/10. I'm looking forward to the road trip arc, so prepare for the ratings and reviews for all of those episodes. Well, when I get off my lazy bottom. Scores average to a 1.5/10 (rounded up to a 2). Thanks for reading :)
