Honestly, Nathan Fielder is a Comedy Genius
tsgamemaster5 June 2023
Yep, this episode is the first of many that will have you laughing from beginning to end. This episode is still full of the cringe type humour you'd expect from Nathan fielder, but this is when the show adds the originality. This to me is the first episode that's both hilarious and genuinely smart. There are two segments which are both entertaining but manipulative. The gas station segment to me is one of the most entertaining sequences in all of Nathan for you. This show really just shows you how easy it is to manipulate people on live television in hysterical ways, which sounds quite sociopathic, but it's also quite funny so if your into that awkward manipulative comedy then you'll love this episode and lots more to come.

The King of Sting

Warning: Spoilers
Nathan helps a caricature artist become relevant by showing him insult comedy, suggesting he do the same in his drawings. He sets up his stand by the beach and starts drawing offensive caricatures, which most people find humorous. At the end of a successful day, Nathan wants The King of Sting to draw him without holding back. He draws a tasteless picture of his grandfather which offends him and he walks away.

Nathan sees a gas station owner, suggesting he lower his price to $1.75 a gallon, after rebate. A rebate that can only be redeemed by hiking to the top of a mountain. A shuttle bus takes eight people to the base of the mountain, where they begin their climb to the peak.

After hours of hiking, Nathan begins telling riddles until dark. Only three people remain and they set up tents to sleep until morning. Nathan gets to know them personally, one man talks about drinking urine as an alternative medicine. In the morning, Nathan reveals there is no rebate box but they gained something more valuable than a rebate, friendship. They descend down the mountain and the camera pans to the hidden rebate box.

This episode shows us to not take life so seriously. At first, the caricature artist was hesitant about offending people, but learns that the deep side of our humor comes out when we're shocked. On the mountain, Nathan never believed anyone would have the free time to answer riddles and camp over night with strangers for a rebate. He learns they all have problems of their own like finding love and letting go of the past.
