This programme from Simon Reeve, a follow-up to a previous series made during the COVID-19 pandemic, sees less of a focus on nature than usual, and an increased one on his other perennial concern: the often-stressed livlihoods of those living in the amazing places he visits. That this is the case in a series set in the United Kingdom is arguably shameful: many of the issues he highlights might be particularly acute in Cornwall, but are far from unqiue to it. As always, Reeve is a sympathetic interviewer, but he doesn't shy from pinpointing the housing crisis as the root of many of the problems. It's a sobering watch, as there are long term trends here than transcend the failings of any single government.
