Warning: Spoilers
This last series of Wallander has been up there with all the others from Sweden. The British version comes nowhere close. As a fan of the books I do think that Krister Henriksson really 'is' Wallander. His portrayal has all the vulnerability but determination of Mankell's creation and his acting is top notch. This has been particularly so, for my wife and I, as the story line has developed around Wallander's illness. My father-in-law was a policeman and has developed Alzheimer's, fortunately not whilst he was still in the job. Nevertheless, Krister Henriksson's portrayal of the slow, vicious creep of this dreadful affliction is, I think, the most compelling depiction I have ever seen theatrically. He really should be commended and I do hope that his acting prowess in this series is recognised in some award process, somewhere, sometime. He is of course supported by a splendid cast of actors and the whole concept of Wallander, in books, film and television has, I am sure, brought tremendous entertainment to millions of people across the world. Krister Henriksson, if you ever read this, thank you. You have brought tears to our eyes but I hope that in a small way, your performances may raise the profile of this dreadful disease and help people be more compassionate, when someone has lost their way.

The Loss
Tweekums7 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
When a woman's dismembered body is discovered it is believed that she is an Eastern European prostitute; this seems to be confirmed when it is discovered that somebody speaking Romanian called an emergency line two weeks previously claiming to be bleeding to death. Suspicion soon falls on pimp/model-scout Tigran Perski but Kurt isn't so sure; he believes that a doctor who had seen the dead girl at a women's refuge isn't saying everything he knows and could possibly be the killer. Away from the case Kurt sees a doctor about his memory problems; which appear to be getting worse.

This was another solid episode; there weren't many obvious suspects but when we finally learn what happened to the girl it comes as quite a surprise. The central story is fairly tragic but it is given a somewhat happy ending. There are also some amusing moments; Kurt's playful chat with his young granddaughter was priceless! There were one or two clichés inevitably; Kurt just happens to bump into a suspect while on a date and solves the case after being told to stay off the case after upsetting a prominent suspect. The acting continues to be good; especially Krister Henriksson's portrayal of Kurt; which goes from strength to strength. Overall a good but tragic episode were we are left feeling sympathy for most of the characters; even those directly responsible for the girl's death are tragic rather than evil.

It's So Sad
Hitchcoc10 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
As Kurt confronts his memory loss, he continues his bulldog like persistence in a case where a teenager has been found dismembered, buried in a construction zone. He begins to alienate those around him with his feelings that the bosses are on the wrong track This lead to his being forbidden from the case. We all know how successfully that order will be carried out. There are several bad guys in this story and our hero must wade through the possibilities of each being guilty. We find there are not winners in this game of exploitation and prostitution. He and Linda have a close call as he has one of those blackouts that have persisted in the last couple episodes. She has cause to worry because her little girl frequently is in Kurt's car, where he is anything but solid. The sad thing that has happened is that it appears that Wallander may have found his true love in the person of a preschool teacher. His doggedness is countered by his inconsistent machinations. This episode makes future ones really challenging.
