It's sad that they wrapped up this season in 3 episodes for a country that should have had at least 6. Everything feels rushed and James just hops from one city to the next without doing much. I understand that India is too vast to cover every important thing in its cities, but dedicating only a few minutes to Delhi and Bengal is unacceptable.

I also observe that May seemed to have a lot of reservations coming here, so much so that he didn't even bother driving, something he has done in the past (TG India special).

Of all the people they could have picked to guide him through Mumbai, they chose the most unfunny and over-the-top "comedian" whose jokes fall flat every time. In all the celebrity roasts she has participated in, she's always the one getting roasted the most. I feel like she was doing this just for visibility and seemed to make a mockery out of everything, a significant divergence from May's subtle comedy.

All in all, hugely disappointed by the rushed execution. This is a significant step down from Japan.

That was refreshing

Warning: Spoilers
Casting aside my prejudices plus adding a professional point of view, The episode was moderate. Was it interesting? Yes. Was it colourful? Yes.

Different in all aspects? Yes .

We all are aware that host , James, *Bim No *John is going to countries which he prefers after Producers offer. Agreed Our man in Japan was amazing, Italy was just posh & Ferrari (kinda mundane) This one being first episode was just cool as its supposed to be.

With prejudices, No i dont think a country like India can be covered that easily. Top gear India special visited Mumbai & reached peaks of North India. Come on,that was a menacingly fun because of Jezza & the Hammond 's dissing , so don't expect this to be like that .

The co host Aditi was kind of a comic who belongs in a stand up type of Millenial generation, some insight jokes about population, past history felt welcome . Sorry boomers who are reading this review. (Imdb is filled with those). James did threw in some shots just before the desi titlecards were appearing in between every episodes. Subtle. Or should I write, Cool ...

.

. .

India isn't a country where you could just chill all day & still seek adventure. You Have To Get Your Hands Dirty . That is Adventure.

You can't beat a river into submission, you have to use its current to flow your way.

Seemed half-hearted

Our man in Japan was good. Our man in Italy was fantastic. Our man in India seemed like May was just going through the motions. Disappointing in all aspects. Nobody in production came up with interesting endeavors for May. The "comedian" guide he had was incredibly unfunny. Out of all of the people in India she was the best they could find? India is a huge country and this series covered it in three episodes? Seems to me nobody in production really wanted to do this series. In the future I hope they put a little more effort into it. I like watching James May, and have enjoyed so many of his shows over the years. But Our Man in India just needs to be binned.

Half hearted effort with yellow filter

Overall show is 3/10 for me.

It was good to see the perspective of a British travelling India and I was excited to watch JMa's take on the tour of India and exploring parts and showing through his experience what a westerner should expect when they arrive in India.

Its understandable that India being huge to make a travel show in, is extremely difficult and one can take enormous amount of time to cover travel series in India. One way it was good to show India from West to East as journey and experience of travelling and revealing himself to Indian atmosphere. Although whichever places he visited they failed to show the real essence. The co-host "comedian" was not a great choice for episode in Darjeeling where she knows a nil about the place and was clueless in a Buddhist temple; why her!, when she has same level of knowledge about the place as JM, what are you trying to convey to the audience? Overall the show felt less than half-hearted effort in showing true India.

On the aspects of the editing of the video, there was yellow filter applied illogically to the whole 3 episode series. No, India does not look like this where you can blindly apply 'poor'-filter and show it as eastern 'under-developed' country. Worst decision ever on top of a poor storyline.

not funny not interesting

I don't understand why this documentary has such good reviews - from the perspective of someone in the television industry, the on-site implementation is disastrous. James May's spontaneous style, intended to be entertaining and authentic, instead creates a feeling of discomfort and embarrassment. He is neither prepared, funny, nor respectful in some situations, displaying a lack of consideration for the culture of the country. The actions, which are poorly chosen for a country like india ( so much potential given away) - are resolved in an amateurish manner - especially when unexpected events occur. The realization is a disaster - even showcasing moments gone wrong doesn't help, as they seem to lighten the mood and be humorous but actually reveal the poor quality of work. Interest appears feigned, and there is little on-site added value that is either overlooked or ignored, mostly in favor of wannabe witty and comical remarks. The whole show has a very amateurish feel and is neither funny nor interesting,
