The first Raw of the "New Era" began with a Stephanie McMahon promo and featured a feud built around the destruction of a potted plant (R.I.P., Mitch). In other words, we aren't exactly witnessing a wrestling revolution here.
And yet, coming off of Payback, a PPV that featured very little in the way of retribution (but plenty of interesting developments), last night's show still managed to rise above all the prefab talk of changing the game – and set the table for a series of compelling matches at Extreme Rules,...

With possibly the exception of the growing list of wrestlers getting injured, the biggest news to come out of the wrestling world recently is that WWE are due to sign/have signed Njpw stars Shinsuke Nakamura, Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows and Aj Styles. It’s particularly exciting as Anderson, Gallows and Styles are members of the highly popular Bullet Club faction.
Even those unfamiliar with the group have no doubt seen their t-shirts, one of wrestling’s hottest sellers over the past couple of years. One of the most popular and dominant wrestling factions in recent memory, the group have run wild in New Japan, as well as a host of other Japanese companies and Us-based groups such as Ring Of Honor and Global Force Wrestling.
They’re in many ways a modern day nWo, and have even got the blessing of Big Sexy, Kevin Nash and The Bad Guy,...

The Prime Time Players duo of Darren Young and Titus O’Neil have earned themselves a WWE Tag Team Title match at WWE Money in the Bank on June 14 when they face the Tag Team Champions, The New Day.
Young and O’Neil earned their spot by winning a triple threat match on SmackDown against The Ascension and Lucha Dragons, which wasn’t much of a surprise. The Prime Time Players also were the runners up during the Elimination Chamber match on Sunday and then won a six man tag on Raw. It’s typical WWE booking where they want to try to build a team up so that they can become legitimate contenders.

The New Day have done a great job as champions since they won the belts at Extreme Rules in April. The trio of Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are very entertaining as heels.

After Monday Night Raw went off the air this week, WWE Champion Seth Rollins stayed in the ring and berated the Green Bay Packers football team.
Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury started the post-Raw segment. They demanded that the Green Bay crowd pays more respect to Rollins, which of course only resulted in more boos. The “Justin Bieber” chant from earlier in the evening also got going again, referencing the idea that Rollins is just an arrogant kid.
Rollins took the mic and stated that he would never come back to Green Bay again. He criticised the Green Bay Packers football team, stating that their quarterback Aaron Rodgers sucks. For good measure, he then added that the Chicago Bears would win the division.
He then stormed off to end the show. It was the typical heel antics that are good for a final reaction. The crowds then left...

Over the years, Extreme Rules has carved itself a niche as one of the better B-list pay-per-views.
And though this year’s instalment lacked some of the big names that previous events have boasted, we were still treated to a pretty stellar showing at Extreme Rules 2015.
Of course, many are viewing this as a result of low expectations, but I’d like to adopt a more positive stance and give the event the credit that it’s due.
The tag title bout was a quality affair, complementing nicely the cat-and-mouse shenanigans of Luke Harper and Dean Ambrose. Throughout the night the booking was on point, with smartly assembled finishes in the Russian Chain and Cage matches. And perhaps most impressively, Roman Reigns surmounted the odds by winning over a Chicago audience in a 20-minute match with the Big Show. Did anyone really see that one coming?
As well as all that though,...

Another WWE pay-per-view is in the can.
For many fans, Money in the Bank is one of the most exciting events on the WWE calendar, with its central ladder match often proving an unpredictable, high-risk delight. Extreme Rules may have the name, but it’s at Money in the Bank that WWE truly goes extreme. Ladders meet skulls, bodies bend and mangle against steel and Kofi Kingston inevitably falls from a ridiculous height.
Sunday’s event was no different, with some truly incredible athleticism on show. The match card was packed with talent and the two multi-man ladder matches provided some remarkable moments as the men involved put their bodies and their lives on the line.
There were no shortage of amazing spots from the show and, if truth be told, this list could easily have been made up entirely of moments from the contract ladder match. The...

Once again, WWE has captivated a group of people. The behemoth pro-wrestling company knows how to control the situation and keep everyone in the palm of their hand. Anxiously, outsiders try to guess their next move. The key difference is that this time the spell-bound observers aren’t members of the WWE Universe watching Raw and Smackdown – they’re investors impatiently awaiting news of WWE’s big television deal.
For weeks, the spigot of information has remained completely dry. Wrestlemania 30, the annual shareholders meeting and the first quarter conference call came and went without a progress update from WWE on the status of their domestic television rights deal. “Just wait.”
Here’s the situation: WWE aligned their major television properties – Raw and Smackdown – to expire in September 2014. In the United States, currently both shows air on networks owned by NBC Universal (USA and SyFy – along with replays on...

Extreme is defined as “of a character or kind farthest removed from the ordinary or average.” However, in the years before the PG Era began, the word extreme carried an entirely different definition. Extreme, as in extreme violence. Men such as Mick Foley, Terry Funk, The Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, Hhh, Edge, Shane McMahon, and more, literally made what seemed extreme, very commonplace during the 1990’s and early 2000’s.
With Extreme Rules happening May 4th, under the guise of a PG rating, it will be a different extreme than the one that fans in the Attitude, and Ruthless aggression eras grew fond of. Gone are the days of multiple chair shots to the skull, such as ones The Rock unleashed on Mick Foley. Gone are the days Undertaker was out to make someone’s a** famous. And gone are the days of blading.
Gone…
But not forgotten.

“Believe in Evolution!” This past Monday on Raw saw the much anticipated reunion of Evolution led by Triple H. We saw Rko’s followed by Batista Bombs, and a Pedigree on Roman Reigns to completely dismantle The Shield as Raw was going off the air. This will lead into a huge 6-man tag team match at Extreme Rules between The Shield and Evolution, and is following a big WrestleMania 30 match from Triple H a couple of weeks ago. Triple H proved in that match that he still has what it takes to be a main event player in the WWE, but these days his biggest impact is his role behind the scenes.
Over the last week, news broke that Triple H has been taking on more responsibilities as an executive. It was reported that WrestleMania 30 was produced by Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon, and not Vince McMahon.

Roman Reigns vs Triple H is scheduled to be a main event at SummerSlam, reports the latest Figure Four newsletter.
Editor Bryan Alvarez described it as “pencilled in”, so of course, plans could still change.
The build for an epic Reigns vs Hunter feud started this past week on Raw, the Shield had a face-off with the Authority, culminating in Reigns hitting a spear on Hunter. Since that grand statement, we have also witnessed Reigns tweeting Hunter ”@TripleH Kings don’t win wars, Soldiers do. Watch your back Hunter because no one else will! #FallofTheKing”
The feud will next work its way through Extreme Rules, where the Shield are expected to clash with Evolution. How WWE goes on to extend the Hunter / Reigns hostilities through to August is anyone’s guess, but it would seem likely Rollins and Ambrose turn heel on Reigns at some point by joining the Authority.

Dean Ambrose is one third of The Shield, WWE’s most dominant faction. From the moment that Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns first debuted in 2012, they have been at the top of the heap in WWE. And while Ambrose’s ability in the ring has earned him the respect of his peers and fans alike, it’s his U.S. title reign that has been somewhat of a disappointment.
The fact is that the title is being wasted on Dean Ambrose. At this point, it’s just a decoration around his waist.
The concept of The Shield was obvious to many fans from the start. After all, introducing three fresh faces onto the main programs at once is practically unheard of. Developing those talents and allowing them to evolve at a certain pace is almost impossible. The truth is that the main roster is just too big; it’s...
