A Test Before Trying is a great Simpsons episode with a really good storyline that kind of surprised they hadn't came up with something like this before, and also has plenty of really funny scenes.I liked the whole idea of the episode and found it very clever, and I also found the ending unexpectedly sweet. It was great to see Springfield Elementary completely rely on Bart Simpson, but he just carries on being himself. The episode is a lot of fun.

When the children of Springfield Elementary don't get good enough test scores to keep the school running,Bart, the only student who wasn't present to do the test, has to take the test and get a good enough score to save the school.

Warning: Spoilers
The episode opens with Mr. Burns making his announcement of the rise in electricity he supplies from the plant. They go up by 17%. Marge then has to throw out all the appliances because they cannot afford to pay for it. Springfield Elementary may be closed down because of the limited supply of electricity in the state. People from the office of standardise testing arrive to give the kids the test. The results come in and the school becomes the worst testing school in the state. All the kids prepare to go to other schools but there may be hope because Bart did not take the test. In other news Homer finds a meter and decides to use it to make some small change from stupid people. Bart is worried about doing the test and Principal Seymour decides to help him study more by pulling the fire alarm. Homer then sees a news program that shows people are out on the look for him. Bart has a dream of what will happen if he does not do well. Bart then takes the test still worried. Bart finishes the test with a lot of pressure, he finishes it passing it allowing the school to stay open. Boring episode with nothing really special maybe because Bart focused episodes never really worry for me.

EPISODE GRADE: D- (MVP: Nancy Cartwright)
