BEST YEAR FOR ONE PIECE ANIME AND MANGA YET COMING
tinton9908 January 2023
The animation was good , the flashbacks were awesome , the aspect ratio/cinematic change in the scene was special, and i like how this is an episode where almost nothing happens but the animation , the flashbacks , the cinematic scenes elevate the anime to a whole another level ! If this much work and effort is put into a weekly non-major anime episode , God I'm pumped to see what they do for THE GREATEST AND PEAK EPISODES I'm sure everybody knows what I'm talking about , all in all the chapters that are going to be adapted this year are literally PEAK FICTION at its finest and if they're adapted in this manner of quality and attention to detail , they may even elevate the manga's experience as well.

Great episode!
UnofficialStudios11 January 2023
Sho Inuzuka, a remarkably new talent on the One Piece anime only debuting with Episode 1005 last year, directed this episode and boarded along with One Piece legend Katsumi Ishizuka, who makes his debut here in the first half as an action storyboard artist! It's important to note that Ishizuka not only animated some of the best scenes in Wano, but has also started boarding absolutely insane action on episodes such as 1004, and 1017 for example. Seeing his board here makes me much more excited for the future of his work if it's on this level in the first half already!

Of course the second half isn't as strong as the first half in terms of direction in places, but there's still a lot to love about it in terms of it's storyboarding by Inuzuka! He's shown to have remarkable talent on previous episodes and it looks like he's slowly coming into his own here, which is really great for someone who's only just starting out!

Anyways the pacing and some of the decisions made with the content might bother some people but it personally didn't really bother me that much here, it was very enjoyable either way.

Cool action but small details will disappoint some manga readers
evy-992019 January 2023
It was a nice episode overall with great action and Zoro & Sanji combo, which is always a winner. However I hated how they took a bit from Sanji's scenes and added more to Zoro's scenes to put more highlight on Zoro, while the manga was about them as a team totally on equal footing, as Luffy's wings. They even mistranslated "Here come the stars" (manga) for "star" (singular) in my version because of Toei bias, and that part was unforgivable. Might seem like small details but it ruined the spirit of the chapter. BTW translators: it's "wings" not "arms". Anyway, anime watchers will probably love this one because anything with Zoro and Sanji kicking ass is a seller, but some manga readers will be disappointed.

Aura effects are back at it again
agustinernestojr13 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Look the animation is great but the aura effects... The AURA EFFECTS ruined some of the best scenes in the manga. No wonder fans prefer manga over the anime. They should try to invest on what is actually being shown in the manga Instead of making fighting scenes unnecessarily flashy. Adjust the lightening effecta if you're gonna add aura effects, just look at DBS Broly. The aura effects in that movie is perfect and it wasn't flashy at all, this is what the aura effects should look like in one piece. Also I'm mad they made zoro aura green instead of purple. If he's not purple at the king of hell scene I'll be perturbed.
