Montage was beautifully done, but a terrible writing choice

Warning: Spoilers
I really didn't enjoy this episode, in all honesty. This season all around has been quite weak, but this one was the worst by far, in my opinion. This might be a bit of a vent 😅

The real offender was the two by two disciple mission being...a montage. One of the absolute laziest writing techniques. I was absolutely furious. This show is about the disciples and they skipped over all of their growth and they barely had a chance to discuss their growth. The scene I disliked the most was when they were talking about the mission and Nathanial asked Little James, "What happened to Big James to turn him into this?" And as he's responding, WE FADE AWAY TO SIMON AND EDEN BICKERING!!! They faded out a conversation we actually wanted to hear!! It didn't help that I was very disengaged in Simon and Eden (to me, marriage troubles is one of the most boring subjects), and it took up most of the episode at the expense of the disciples' growth. Some of these disciples, like Judas, are brand new to the group and now they're casting out demons and healing the sick!!! That does things to a person. So yea I was very disappointed.

The Apostles' travels
l-perez-dancer24 February 2024
I've been an avid Bible student since I was 21 years old. Prior to that I lived my life without caring what my Creator thought about my choices. My Bible study has only increased in the over the 40 years since I first started reading the Gospel accounts.

I know the Bible very well and am thoroughly enjoying The Chosen series. Naturally, since I am so familiar with the Bible account, I have some opinions about this series. I believe it is important to point out that less than 10% of each episode of The Chosen is actually from the Bible accounts. Ninety percent of these episodes are embellishments; the producer's ideas of how the Bible characters may have spoken, looked and acted, beyond what is written in the Bible. I have no problem with those embellishments. As a matter of fact, I appreciate and enjoy much of the non-biblical inventions by the writers of this series.

I would like to speak about the good and the not so good embellishments created by the writers of this series. I hope you will not be offended by my critique.

Season 3, Episode 4, Broken water well. This episode is mostly about character development. We find out Rabbi Yusef comes from a wealthy family who own the stone quarry and brick manufacturing in Jerusalem. I think this is the wealthy Biblical member of the Sanhedrin named Joseph of Arimathea who stood up in defense of Jesus during his trial and provided the tomb that Jesus' body was laid in. Zebedee is only mentioned twice in the Bible, as being with his sons when Jesus called them. There is nothing about him selling his boat and buying an olive grove. The character Gaius could be the army officer mentioned in the Bible as having a sick servant whom he asks Jesus to heal, so that episode may be coming in season 4.

Biblical content in this episode; 2%. The Apostles heal and expel demons as they preach the good news of the coming Kingdom of God. Jairus' daughter is sick, and the woman with the constant flow of blood is real. The rest of the episode is invented.

Too much Filler
hook-303042 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I feel in a lot of ways this is starting to get off track. I understand filler and side stories but not to this level. The level it's gotten to makes it very hard to stay happy. I am hoping like all tv series this is simply a couple episodes of filler. But I so want it to go back and start with Jesus again. Not interested in Peters marriage woes or selling new olive oil. Nothing about that is important and it does little to keep the story alive. Let's hope Dallas Jenkins head hasn't gotten too big to keep to the simple story of the one who came to save the world. In someways I think his head has gotten bigger.

good intentioned
Kirpianuscus25 March 2023
The good point - the portrait of Veronica .

The delicate subject - the marriage trouble . It is a very uncomfortable subject and to suggest it , maybe, were a better option.

Another good point - the portrait of Jairus and the prepaires for his meeting with Jesus.

The eccentric aspect - the mission of Apostles, reminding more a montage, sure, obvious, good intentioned but, maybe, not real convincing.

In short, nice scenes but the feeling to be a sort of pause after the previous episode.

Obvious, not bad part of provocative series but , in few moments, the sensation to be a sort of improvisation expecting great scenes just remains.
