This is a chancy little show. Read why Eugene Levy decided to host a series of travel episodes. If anything, he is all of us couch potatoes. Personally, I spent much of my early life in discomfort and relative poverty, so when Levy complains about new experiences, I can relate. But peer pressure and social pressure are big things here. What we must remember is that he is never in danger, but only out of his comfort zone. His comments at times are quite cynical and he seems rather childish. But this is all new. He is an actor who normally has a script and the safety of that. I will give this some time and see where it goes. I did love the people whom he spent time with. I think this show is weighted toward kindness.

Levy's the best

He is apprehensive, but honest. I love his observations. They're crude enough to seem spontaneous and refined enough to make sense. His outlook is also skeptical as I would be. Especially in the freezing cold. However, like Levy, I get how Finn's love of nature makes them happy.
I like too how Levy is not perched in the kings chair or first class all the way, instead he's observing from the cheap seats. By cheap I mean he's doing the mushing and riding in the wheelbarrow. Or sled, or boat, and he is a perfect blank palate for the studying of a new culture and people. He doesn't over analyze or criticize.

Mr. Levenstein's arctic escapade
kanankoipi-5619715 March 2023
Mr. Levenstein trying to delve to the root of Finland as the happiest nation in the world?
Well, if soaking up vodka and plunging about in a freezing lake meets the definition of happy, perhaps the three people of Lapland per square mile are just that.
Actually, trying to convince Finns of their mythical happiness count with their annual 14/100000 suicide rate, this is like trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip.
It looks more like a travel ad for Business Finland LLC's Visit Finland project.
For some reason this show has not as of yet been broadcast in Finland.
The truth of Lapland is, it is all for visitors, the average Finn gets a weekend in Lapland at the same price as a two weeker in Gran Canaria.
On the sunny side, there is mr. Levy's good natured dry wit combined with exotic landscapes.
Even a skeptical Finn turns a dry smile while watching this.
