It delivers
tristan_1929 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Plan 99 starts with our crew in jeopardy and Tech has to sacrifice himself. The death was really well done and emotional. The amount of impact it'll have on the characters going forward remains to be seen, but I have to imagine it's going to be tremendous.

Omega and co go back to Cid's place, but the long awaited betrayal takes place. There is hostages and an all out fight ensues. The momentum continues as the Empire captures Omega and bring her back to the Doctor.

Some surprises and all happen, but it pretty much goes down how you'd expect. Tech's demise is really sad and the episode ends up on an ominous reveal from Emerie to Omega, accentuating the dark tone this episode had all throughout.

The joke is on me
movieturtle201329 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
How could I ever think that in the early days of the empire a group of defective clones would ever be able to stand against that whole regime?

Why did it have to be Tech?

The helplessness on Hunters face as he watches Hemlock take Omega away, not able to do anything, hurt.

They lost so much in the end.

Season Two of The Bad Batch leaves off on a sinister and dark note and left few eyes dry. The joke is kind of on me for thinking that in just two episodes the Tantiss story line would be resolved, Crosshair would be saved and they all are back together again.

This is Star Wars after all. As much as it is a about family, it keeps punching us in the gut.

This season has been The Batch trying to figure out who they are and where they belong within this empire. The war has ended and they are no longer soldiers, at least don't have to be. They want a peaceful life, but in this galaxy they can never have it. And this is a gut wrenching truth for them to learn.

The BEST of 2023 so far
moritzherz29 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Dave Filoni has a mission with this show, he always had, just like with the clone wars and Rebels before. Everything he does has a function and this finale proves that.

When this season focused on character development for Tech everybody liked it, because he was the one that needed it the most. We have got to see the human side of Tech, the (kind of) emotional side, not the machine. I remember the episode he and Omega got stuck and had to work together to reunite with the team, I called this episode "picture perfect character development". Or later on the kind of relationship he and the pirate developed. At least she wanted to break the hard hull to get to the soft core.

So when he hang on that rope I knew that this would be the end. Looking back to part I of the finale we even got his death foreshadowed by the pirate saying that he has to take care of himself. His death was shocking, emotional and therefore the right choice. All this character development payed off because the audience cares for him. His death was meaningful, he spoke of Plan 99, which is of course referring to Clone 99 from the clone wars, who sacrificed hinself during the seperatist attack on Kamino. He now is a legend as well. Dave Filoni did not forget this character and it payed off right now.

This is yet another detail that shows that he cares for his audience.

When Tech said, "we never followed orders" it put a smile on my face because it is fitting brilliantly to the shows message. The show often deals with the phrase "good soldiers follow orders" used by the clones under influence of Order 66. Tech saying, that they always did the opposite shows the journey the Bad Batch has made. They refused to serve under a brutal, suppressing regime and choose to resist. That makes them heroes.

Tech's Death alone makes this episode a masterpiece but this is just the start. Seeing Omega's reaction after loosing Tech was so sad, I felt very sorry for her. But things can go worse and they get quickly.

Cid finally betrays the Batch and contacts the empire. The Batch is overwhelmed and Omega gets captured.

So, we all knew that was gonna happen but it still was shocking, especially after the previous events in this episode. It felt like eveything went wrong for our heroes and we get left behing with a gigantous cliffhanger. It is a shame that we will have to wait another year to get more of this magic but that is how quality works.

And speaking of quality, I have to mention the soundtrack. Kevin Kiner created a new theme that played during key moments of this episode and I directly fell in love with it. I will find it on Spotify and put it on my playlist. He is just one hell of a compositor!

This episode was yet another proof of how good Star Wars can be. If they make quality like this there is simply no competition. Look at Marvel, they are worlds behind that. I am glad to see Star Wars being well alive, still delivering the magic I am used to.

And for quality like this I am happy to wait a year or longer!!!

What We Wanted Out of This Series
clementstephena29 March 2023
This story is finally evolving to be more complex and add the tension and challenges that were previously absent from the story.

Without spoiling anything, I will say that the challenges for the squad evolve and they don't get the easy, scratch-free wins that they have grown accustomed to.

Omega is challenged and her standard patterns of behavior are also brought into question, which will push her to have to learn and grow from this experience.

This season had some episodes that seemed to detract or devalue the story more than adding, but this finale perfectly ties together the narrative skill that the Star Wars teams have demonstrated through their peak of the Clone Wars and Rebels.

This finale to Bad Batch creates eager anticipation for the next season and gives hope to viewers of the quality of story and characters that they might expect in the coming season.

I ask of the show-runners that you please go check the reviews and responses to your episodes. Learn from your strengths and grow from your weaknesses. There is a lot of potential in this show, but there is also room for growth. Please hone in this series just as you have with previous series and you will have many eager fans awaiting your coming work.

Congratulations on an excellent finish line for this season and good luck in the next!

The Bad Batch Season 2 Review
poseyfan30 March 2023
This season has been interesting. There have been some lackluster episodes. And then there have been episodes that have blown me away. There really hasn't been any in between.

The episodes that delivered were some of the best Star Wars we've seen. "Plan 99" was no exception. A few bombshells were dropped in this episode that will leave Season 3 hitting the ground running.

I was on edge the whole episode, and I think that is a very good thing. The Empire continues to be my favorite part of the show. I love the air of suspense they bring. Tarkin has always been an intriguing character.

Overall, I'm pretty excited for season 3.

One of the best anything Star Wars content
conlonr-6836729 March 2023
Easily the best episode of the entire series, up there with Andor level of quality, writing, and tone. God this show keeps on eclipsing the Mandalorian.

The emotional pay off was excellent and especially Kevin Kiner's fantastic score. This was the one time where I wish these episodes were a lot longer. I understand there was some low parts to the story, which is why I wish they would release multiple episodes at once. I hope Season 3 is more contained as this seems like what will happen as there are no more side quests currently..... More lore about the empire and Mount Tantiss next season will help.

Emotional and satisfying end!
and_mikkelsen30 March 2023
God damn this was an incredible conclusion! I felt so many emotions doing this episode! I could feel the stakes more than ever! I got chills! Stopped breathing! My eyes were glued to the screen from beginning to end! Shocking and heartbreaking moment already in the beginning of the episode... and from there it doesn't let go! It reminded me of "Crossroads of destiny" from ATLA.. a dark and very mature ending that leaves you feeling "this was not a victory"

Overall this was just incredible and some of the best of not only the season, but the show! Happy they stuck the landing! The end was a shocker, and I am very excited for, hopefully, a third season!

The season had its ups and downs, but I really enjoyed the overall story and I would very much like too see more of this! Something you can not say about every disney+ show!

This is a animatied Masterpiece!

Warning: Spoilers
Man this episode got me feeling back in 2020 when Clone Wars S7 Finale came out. The rawness and sadness in this episode was well written. Part 1 of the finale really connected with Rogue One and many more stories in the saga. But damn i didnt expect Tech to die. I knew the character since S7 came out and his introduction was spectacular. I haven't been watching any episodes of Bad Batch lately but this episode, my god i dropped a tear when he died, man was underrated, may he rest in peace. Plot twist at the end was amazing too. This episode gives you vibes alot and i recommended you watch.

Overal 10/10. The best episode of the Bad Batch ever made.

I never liked that character...
simanunan29 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Every time I see Saw making an appearance, I know something bad is happening and it's gonna be his fault... Seriously my most hated character in Star Wars universe. Well written though.

This episode concluded the season on really sad and depressing tune. Tech dying was something I've never expected from this and it quite much hit me.

Sid did exactly what I expected of her sadly. I don't think they are done with her yet, there sure gonna be an opportunity for redemption.

The ending had a nice surprise and made me really curious about the female clones in general and the reason behind them.

Overall, this episode was a rollercoaster of emotions but very well done. I already can't wait for what next season brings. Fingers crossed for some nice crossover teamup.

The Clone Wars continue
hammerhead-dk29 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Nale Se, will be a prompinate figure in S3.... Omega's family tree is explained along with Bad Batch (Clone Force 99). I figure a few episodes ago that Tech was marked to die, due to him having the possibly of failing in love... Tech is the smarter 'clueless' clone in the series. See Republic Commando's.... Tech was by far and away my personal favorite in the group which includes Echo... We still don't have a final say on Crosshair, so along with Omega and family, we should see that arc wrap-up... Will Crosshair come back as a clone 'brother', after he realizes how the Empire treats clones or will he remain as a "Good soldiers follow orders", which is questioned by clones during this season.... Was I sad Tech died? YES I WAS! Did you see it coming YES, and I still was keeping hope that he might have 'slightly' survived the fall.... Yes, I was still hoping... Now we have Hunter, Echo, Wrecker, Omega, Crosshair and a new clone! Did I miss the new clone? Yes I did, if anyone says they had that figured out, please let me know.... My jaw was on the floor watching it with my fam!

Season 3 should be approved and greenlit for next year.... Hopefully... Please bring in more of the Republic Commando's, perhaps Dave Filoni can introduce the NULLs next season (I doubt it), just wishful thinking... Probably one of the absolute best animation finales for Star Wars! Do you all agree? Or did I miss that one?

Epic Finale.
notsomighty5 April 2023
I watched the final 3 episodes in one go and was quite simply blown away by all 3 but episode 16 was off the charts. One of the best star wars related pieces in quite some time. Gripping, tense and emotional with a well written and brilliantly staged set piece. My ageing brick of a heart was on the cusp of bursting but i'll leave that comment there for a none spoiler. Yes, there has been a couple of lacklustre episodes to keep the kids happy but overall the series has been top notch stirring up a nice 'bigger picture' storyline in the background. Mandalorian, take note...the Batch has just rased the bar.

Excellent, emotional finale for Season 2
ErReads31 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The latter half of season 2 of Bad Batch has been really great, equaling season 7 of Clone Wars for me. I am not a big animation fan, and in fact, Clone Wars, Rebels and Bad Batch are the only animated series content I have truly liked since becoming an adult.

In a nutshell: this two-part finale was excellent. I actually shed a couple of tears!! Tech's death was very sad and unexpected (at least to me). I think the musical compostion really boosted the emotional aspect of the last couple of episodes of the season. That, along with the character development (Tech getting more in touch with his feelings, Hunter's fatherly agony/determination when Omega was taken, the obvious grief of Wrecker's face while trying to comfort Omega after Tech's death). This must have been a heavy watch for the kids watching the finale.

I was glad episode ended on a note of sheer determination (the Batch determined to rescue Omega) and interesting mystery, with Omega learning that she had an older clone sister. I look forward to seeing how these storylines play out next season. I hope it isn't a long wait!

Interesting season, but at times stale and repetitive.
fciocca20 April 2023
The second season of "The Bad Batch" is entertaining and we see this group of unusual clones going around the galaxy, doing their part to disrupt the empire. Most of the series has exactly the same structure of the first one: there are a bunch of standalone episodes that just show some adventures, completely unrelated to the main storyline. I love to see such moments, but after a while it just becomes stale and I wondered when we could finally go on with the plot. Only towards the end of this second series do we finally see things progress. Crosshair is not much present and I wish that creators dedicated a bit more screen time on this character.

However there are many intrigues and some subplots that got me really invested. The most interesting entry was definitely Doctor Royce Hemlock, who is an excellent villain and gave me the chills for the entire time. I really hope that it will be more present in the next season. "The Bad Batch" narration and editing are in plain old-school Star Wars style, but it does bring no innovation to the wheel. I hope that the next will be a bit more dynamic, maybe with fewer episodes, in order to have a less dispersive narrative experience.

This season is really king at pretending it had more than single dialogue lines for these big payoffs
sevskirita29 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
God the Bad Batch centered episodes of this entire season have been so middling.

Two lines about Cid betraying people in the past and just half an episode for the squad to bond with her is an unacceptable amount of setup for what is treated like such a big payoff. This season has wasted so much of our time with plot filler that the characters got like a single line every episode for any character growth or development. The fact Filoni and team think that we have any attachment to characters who have had ten lines of dialogue max each to develop them is so ridiculous. I don't care about Tech, I don't care about Cid, I don't care about Omega. These characters are not gripping, I barely know anything about them beyond their basic archetypes.

The only reason I'm at all interested in the next season is because the premise is somewhat interesting. Definitely not that random clone reveal, and they need to actually focus on the characters this time instead of a 25 minute podracing homage and a 25 minute Goonies homage. I don't give a frog's hair about homages, make me care about your characters for God's sake.

Absolutely Incredible! This show is really starting to become something special!
oooommmmiiiiii31 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, just wow. This finale man, this finale was INSANE! It was emotional, epic, sad, dark, gritty, just pretty much everything I want out of this show! Throughout this season there were quite a few darker episodes that really progressed the plot and amped up the intrigue and this one is no exception. The amount of crazy twists this episode was also absolutely well... crazy! Tech dying, Omega getting captured and Emery (the nurse) being revealed as a clone or a relative to Jango Fett! This episode was just filled to the brim with twists and turns! Although in particular Tech's death was probably the most insane and impactful twist for me, throughout the show and this season in particular I really came to like Tech and all of the development he got this season really made me like him more, so seeing him die to save the ones he cares for was absolutely heartbreaking. This was a definite 10/10 episode!

As for the season, I know some people thought there was too much "filler" content but apart from a few episodes I thought that this season was great, when the season was good it was GOOD and at worst this season had a mediocre episode or two. I think overall this season was an 8.5/10!

A strong, well-paced finale
jamesurech1 April 2023
You know an episode is really good when you feel the need to watch it again soon after your first viewing. Continuing immediately after the previous episode, "Plan 99" has to contend with a different structure for its pacing, but it handles it quite well. It does not linger on moments for longer than it needs to, but it also builds a lot of suspense.

This episode has several emotional payoffs and reveals, and although you can see a lot of them coming, I'd say that shows good foreshadowing rather than lazy writing. Not all of the swings are hits, but enough of them are to keep you engaged.

If this show ends up having a total of 3 seasons, then I'd call this a very successful act two closer.

Guys this is by far the best Bad batch episode it give us a so dark side series and personally this episode for me was even better than the last ones of the clone Wars S7 it give a so dark star Wars sides and I think they are up to bring a very dark thing to canon about the sake of the clones be prepared the next season is going to be fire am sure also it was the only episode that made be sad and shocked at the same time this episode is amazing and again the most important and serious thing we are getting this season is the sake of the clones and we will finally see what happens to our beloved clones and so few remained alive.

Dave Filoni does it again
kakkomemes29 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't been rating these episodes but I had to come in and rate this one. This episode matches the level that the Clone Wars reached and this is easily one of the best episodes of this series.

The death of Tech is done very well and the way that they do it shows that they aren't going to beat the Empire which we all know is the outcome of this show.

The way the characters deal with the death of Tech is also very well written and Cid turning them over to the Empire is very well done as well as she has been set up throughout the show as untrustworthy and spineless.

Overall I'm hoping that we see a Season 3 sooner rather then later, though it feels like Season 3 is most likely going to be the beginning of the end.

Tested
Trey_Trebuchet13 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 had a pretty good finale, but this was way better.

I will say Tech's death was unfortunately spoiled for me last year when this aired, sadly. It was still handled really well. It was intense and quite sad. You could really feel the weight of his loss, and I just cannot imagine watching someone I love falling to their death. No thanks!

I don't know what the writers plan on doing with Cid, but I never really cared much for the character and this kind of made me actually dislike her. I suppose this was bound to happen, according to Tech a few episodes ago. Still annoying. Part of me hopes she either doesn't make a return or will at least get SOME kind of redemption but I doubt it.

Everything else was great. Hemlock is a really good villain, the title tensions are actually felt, and the twist at the end with Emerie was predictable (come on, they have the same accent) but still has me wanting another season.

Really solid finale. This season had its ups and downs, but it wasn't too shabby.

The Bad Batch. Season Two.
southdavid22 April 2023
I enjoyed season one of "The Bad Batch" and made a little ritual out of watching it with my son every weekend. This second season though is an improvement, adding a little more existential debate to the similar mix of Saturday morning action.

Now operating as a specialised heist team, Clone Force 99 pull a series of jobs weighing the risk of exposure to the Empire, against the reward of lucrative assignments. Within the Empire though, treatment of the clone army is worsening, as it transitions to a conscription force. Those who remain are increasingly questioning the virtue of their orders, even Crosshair (Dee Bradley Baker) whose loyalty to the missions pulled him away from his teammates. In the senate, debates about the rights of clones are turning ugly, and there are those who have another use for the former soldiers.

Without wishing to make it sound too melancholy, it is still an animated show for kids, this existential 'what happens to a defunct clone army' storyline and a larger one about cloning in general, which has played out on a few of the current shows, is a fascinating one. Do they have rights and a vote? Or are they Empirical property to do with as they see fit. Those elements are so dark that they inspire Crosshair to question what's going on and for Echo to leave the team, to fight the good fight with Rex. I admire Dave Filoni for taking another aspect of Star Wars that seems ill considered, the "Somehow Palpatine has returned" line and slowly building an explanation for cloning within the Empire.

But the show is still good in other ways. Great vocal performances, great to look at - I really like this animation style that has been taken from Rebels and used in both this and Filoni's other animated series.

Ending after the next season is probably the right decision, and hopefully it can bring some closure to this story.

Better than I expected
lakings9713 November 2023
Bad Batch: Season Two on Disney+ under Dave Filoni's leadership is a much better scripted series than any Abrams Star Wars movie. Dave brings the characters to life and you could feel the empire taking control of the galaxy. The animation and production promotes the series to a new level of excitement to the point we want more from this group of clones and to seek the truth about Omega. The group loses Echo to join forces with Rex to protect and rescue other clones that are against the Empire. The Empire introduces a mad scientist Dr Hemlock who experiments on clones but not sure yet for the reasons. Now that stormtroopers have replaced the clones, you can tell most of their shots miss their targets. The season ended in a heartfelt emotional cliffhanger, can't wait to see where the following season takes Clone Force 99. I am thrilled that there will be a third season and hopefully more.

An enjoyable finale, but not blowing my socks off
atkinsonlouise-738738 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The finale to season two of The Bad Batch was thrilling and high stakes, but didn't quite wow me. It has some great highs, with Tech's death emotional (even if it was spoiled for me), while the attempt to get Omega at the end was thrilling. For me, it just was very good but not quite as good as the best this series had to offer, although I had a lot of fun here and we got a satisfying conclusion to the series. How they end the show will be interesting and the reveal of the assistant as Onega's sister is interesting. The series as a whole has been really good with some exceptional episodes like the Solitary Clone, the Clone Bill two parter and The Outpost adding some grit and weight to the Clone's story. The 'filler' episodes which see the Batch on adventures were mostly fun and added character development, bar a few. This was another fun, intriguing tale with some great development for the Clones and some more details to the cloning of Palpatine. Bring on Series 3. Episode score and Series Score: 8/10.

Good episode, mediocre season
jacksonpierzinaspam29 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Plan 99" is a great episode on its own but simply was not enough to makeup for a slow and lackluster season. Don't get me wrong, there were certainly some absolute gems (The Outpost, Truth and Consequences), but for the most part this season fell flat for me. There were far too many copy and paste filler episodes that left me struggling to come back week after week. I really enjoy getting to see this time period in Star Wars on screen for the first time. Filoni and crew have done a great job portraying the beginnings of the empire. However, despite the great world building, I don't feel as though the writers truly have any sort of plan for our protagonists.

It's been nearly two years since we were introduced to Omega, a character who was clearly setup to have some sort of hidden unique power/ability (hence the empire's fierce determination to capture her), yet we still haven't been told what is so special about her. The only big thing we learn about this season is that she has an older sister that works for the empire's cloning program. You would think that after two entire seasons we would have learned a little bit more about one of the series' main protagonists.

I liked the development we got with Crosshair. Having him stay with the empire was an interesting twist in the first season. Seeing him and other clones slowly open their eyes to the evil of the empire was compelling to watch. However, after he gets captured we lose all the momentum with his story for the rest of the season.

There are lots of interesting stories to be told here. The writers need to focus in on a few and fully develop them instead of having filler episodes every other week.

Ultimately this season was somewhat entertaining to watch but did little to advance the overall plot of the series.

Probably the most underwhelming finale ever.
mooeymouse30 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Just to make things clear, I don't have the one star rating because I think the episode is one star. I just have it this low since there's no way it deserves a (as of writing this) 9.3 rating.

First off, they decided to waste all of Tech's development this season by having him die in what feels like the worlds worst Mortal Engines reference, which really sucks since he was the only character to receive any development throughout the season.

Keep in mind that this isn't even halfway in, and it's probably the most emotional scene in the episode. What better way to have the viewer reel from his death than to cram in all the action scenes they forgot to put into the rest of the season.

The rest of this episode was extremely predictable, with plot points like Cid's betrayal and Omega's capture. Probably the worst episode of the season, and that includes the two-part filler story about that thief kid. If you're gonna kill of one of the main characters, and then tease a third season, let him die in a decent way instead of drowning it out in needless action.

Also Crosshair is in this, and does absolutely nothing.

Cliche central but a rare miss to be fair.
ajtrotter-9038229 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This series has been amazing so far but this and the last ep were so soft and the writing was as original as New Coke, the build up to Tech's death was so blatant and predictable, such a waste of some absolutely awesome character development for him this season, it was just a waste. As was Sid's betrayal.

All of the events this episode caused by another cameo from Saw Gerrera just being a dick. Is there no-one else in the Star Wars universe that can pop up and be a liability? Hearing him mentioned is an eye roll moment at this point.

I respect other's views but don't understand the 10's. There's little to nothing in this episode that doesn't make me think they've set the characters back. Even the "reveal" at the end, why the hell does he need Omega when he has a genetic sister in the same base with him?!

I hope they can tidy this up. As I said this is a rare miss of an episode, felt rushed.
