Beautiful, lyrical picture of song and youth
SB10013 April 2017
What distinguishes this film from other documentaries about cathedrals, schools and so on is how seamlessly it manages to marry several elements - the human story of the boy and girl choristers, and the staff who look after them; the beauty of the environment they inhabit, the history and context of the choir, and the music which surrounds everything. It is unashamedly sentimental but also clear-eyed, and should be seen by anyone with an interest in choral music, or cathedrals, or just England.
