The Death of Spider-Man: I'm not crying you're crying
Platypuschow14 December 2018
The Death of Spider-Man is a motion comic fan film based on the story of the same name. When you hear fan film it creates images of amateurishness but there is none in display here, credit where credit is due.

Spiderman is shot and left in a seriously weakened state and is forced to battle the Green Goblin, Electro, Kraven the Hunter and Sandman. Is this truly his last battle?

Very well animated, well paced, the voice cast is solid and the whole thing kicked me in the feels a lot harder than I thought it'd be able to.

Spiderman is way down there on my list of favorite Marvel characters but nobody can dispute how iconic he is and the impact of this 20 minute short is devastating.

Very good stuff.

The Good:

Looks great

Emotionally charged

The Bad:

Some differences from the source material

Things I Learnt From This Short:

I'm going to blubber soon, everything I've watched today has been sad!

Worthy addition to the Spider-Man universe

"The Death of Spider-Man" is a 22-minute animated short film from 2011, so this one is already over 5 years old, maybe 10 already depending on when you read this review. Here we have another take on comic book animation style that is indeed not too unpopular for superhero short films, usually fan-made productions. And I think the many makers here did not spoil the the broth as the outcome is quite fun. The visual side is okay, but the real highlight are perhaps the voices and I think the actors there did a pretty good job. Also subject-wise, this film may be more relevant than ever today with how the most recent Avengers film turned out eventually(?) But yeah, lets not spoil this one, but just take a look at the one we got here. Maybe it seemed a bit unusual to see Aunt May come to the rescue and later on also Parker's pretty hot ginger girlfriend. Honestly he seemed fairly helpless here, but yeah well he was fighting an army of super villains, so can you blame him? But at the very end, these comments about him by everybody did not feel too much in style and accurate given everything we saw before. There was really nothing except the fight sequences and that's probably the reason why I think so. But these are just minor criticisms. I myself being a big Spider-Man fan, actually he may be my favorite superhero, did enjoy the watch from start to (almost) finish here and without a doubt I give it a thumbs-up. Go see it unless you really hate super hero films. Oh yeah a few words on the title too to finish it all. Major spoiler, isn't it. And still you wonder if it will happen. I mean they can't kill him. Or can they? Go see for yourself.
