The story begins with Brass playing chopsticks on a grand piano in the desert. It turns out that the mutilated body of a pretty girl is inside the piano. And Greg recognizes her. When the original owner of the piano is found to be a musician who died years ago, it leads Greg to bring out his knowledge of Vegas history (we find out he actually had a book published). Soon we are back in the Sinatra era through the stories. There are some really nice little twists in this offering. Greg continues to be a very good character.

The Piano in the Middle of Nowhere

Russell and Greg go to the desert to investigate a piano that was found with the body of a woman inside. Greg immediately recognizes the woman, the music journalist from New York Alison Bailey, who helped him to write his book about Vegas' mob history. Later, Greg tells Morgan that Amanda and him had a love affair while he was in New York. Soon their investigation shows that the piano belonged to the piano player Ledo Wright. In accordance with the legend, the mobster Tommy Grazetti killed Ledo Wright in 1966, but his body was never found. Now Grazetti becomes the prime-suspect for the investigation.
"It Was a Very Good Year" is an episode with a funny beginning, when a piano was found in the middle of the desert. The plot has many twists, as usual, and lots of work of the CSI team, but in the wrong direction. The truth is only found in the end, making Greg sadder. My vote is seven.
