A fun game that's incredibly overpriced.

Warning: Spoilers
I played the game on a emulator and I can tell you straight it is really good and tons of fun however, It is way way way too OVERPRICED. Seriously? $1000 for a complete copy!

Anyways in Legend of hero Tonma you control Tonma/Tommy-Sun who is the son/apprentice of the wizard Merlin. One day while sleeping/meditation Tonma heard the voice of a princess in distress calling out his name. It is now up to Tonma to save that princess. The game has you fighting Dragon's, Skeletons and even a rejected Disney villain inside the mouth of a Cave Head. The game can be very frustrating sometimes especially during the final three stages. The bosses can be Easy, The skeleton and Two Hunchback Looking Clone Dwarfs are really easy while that Cave Mouth Lady and Dragon can be super annoying. It doesn't help that many of the games coolest enemies only appear in one or two stages. Like the girls that spit fire and wear green skirts or those cute little sumo guys who burst out of the wall and emerge. The fun in the game is the platforming and power-ups. Those power-ups are really cool especially the shield one and the Fireball one. The problem with these power-Ups is that once you die you don't get them back. The game makes up for some of its flaws with some AMAZING MUSIC. The music in the arcade version is spectacular and really makes you feel immersed in the setting. One more complaint is the translation, it is awful "YOUNG MAN YOU BETTER GET BACK THERE, ONCE YOU GO IN YOU MUST REGRET IT LATER" Anyways Now it's spoiler time,

After you go from the woods to several different cliffs, It's time to face the baddy! It's a evil gnome/dwarf looking creature that has some really cool sprite animation ngl. The problem with him though (At least one the Pc Engine Version) is that he is really easy. you can actually beat him on your first time if you flick on the turbo switches. After you defeat him the princess pea-sorry I mean Princess Lila kisses you and both of you are absorbed to a fairy-tale like flower field. It's a sweet end and your hands will probably be tired by the time you finish it lmao.

So overall Legend of Hero Tonma is a good game that has some flaws but is really good in the end, I prefer the TurboGrafx version tbh just because of its simpler controls. The sprite work is way better in the arcade version though, Tonma looks like mashed potatoes and the princess looks awful lmao. The game is way too overpriced so either play an actual cabinet (Which is hard because as far as I know the arcade version only came out In Spain and Japan) and the turbo GRAFX version must be emulated (Dont spend over $700 on this HUCARD only unless you are a die hard collector) or use an ever drive. So Tonma you get a 8/10 for me.
