Better Than Average Drama - Taken Back
arthur_tafero17 May 2019
This is every parent's worst nightmare. Having your child taken, short of having your child killed or dying, is the worst thing any parent could have to live through. Divorce is bad enough, but this is even worse; much worse. Although a bit slow in the beginning, it picks up in the middle and carries your attention until the ending, which reminded me of "Fatal Attraction" where the psycho is so real that you will get chills. Recommended.

Stellar!

Warning: Spoilers
This is a stellar movie, and I do not understand the low rating at all. My mother and I loved it! The movie is about a girl named Hayle was kidnapped at three years old from a merry-go-round. Karen spends twelve years searching for her daughter, the father gives up after two years because he has a life to live.

Karen eventually finds Hayley-Emma at a high school where she is taking photos for the high school yearbook.

I don't want to give the whole thing away because this is such a powerful movie. I rooted for Karen the whole way and I cried with her. How could those people who took Hayley put a mother through that kind of grief after what they suffered?

Predictable & not worth watching.
Carol_R22 February 2015
I watched this because of the actors in it, particularly Amanda Tapping. I expected a twist, something other than being completely predictable in a boring way. But there wasn't any twist. All the adult characters came off as irresponsible and not believable. It wasn't even a good treatment on the subject of child abduction compared to movies like "The Face on the Milk Carton." It also didn't give background on any of the major characters on what had happened to them in the last decade. It just plopped the characters on screen with no explanation as to why they were friends, why they had the jobs they did, etc. Not any real character development at all. And at the end of it, I liked the characters that the movie portrayed as bad, and couldn't stand the ones they portrayed as good. Moira Kelly I didn't think was believable in her role at all. All in all it was a waste of two hours of my time.

Merry-Go-Round Kidnapping Leads to that Kind of Life-****
edwagreen23 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent film dealing with the kidnapping of a 3 year old girl who was riding a merry-go-round. To put it mildly, her mother never adjusted to what occurred and would lead to a merry-go-round type of life until fate intervened.

Her husband left her and the woman is a natural mess who refuses to believe that the case is over.

As a school photographer, fate intervenes and she finds a girl who looked so much like her daughter(this is 12 years later) and the girl has an overly protective mother. I wonder why?

The plot has an unusual twist when the girl is "kidnapped" back by her real mother. That's when the mayhem starts and the whole thing is just mesmerizing.

cliche is an understatement - razzie wannabe IMO
shalimar-46 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
All the acting power of Amanda and Moira combined + horrifyingly bad directing/writing and pathetic predictable mishmash they put together for this...

I normally avoid made for tv movies due to crap like this... took the chance on this and wow.. well lets just say its the low point in the careers of both actresses..

There is no doubt they are capable of so much better than this tripe.. but that said their names alone in the future won't be enough alone to justify the time spent or in this case lost.

Id vote for this for a razzie but its so poorly done it does not even make it into that class... Sorry but it;s the equivalent of taking 2 good actresses and giving them the most stinking low budget high school production to try to save... you know it does not matter how good either is.. it;s doomed from the start..

Taken Back , by Taken Back finding Haley
rainstorm224 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I stayed up extra late just to catch the second viewing of this movie . It didn't disappoint on most levels . I just have a few factual questions .

For example the couple who lost their daughter in a drowning accident in the tub . If it were truly an accident and no harm was meant . Why didn't they at least try to get their little angel help . Even if it were to late they could have tried .

The police would have figured out that it was an accident .

But No the husband/father sticks his head in the sand and allows his wife to steal a little girl who does not belong to them . Instead of doing the right thing right away he continued to turn a blind eye .

Second question is for the biological mother to Haley ...

Why would she "kidnap" her own daughter , if she honestly thought this was Haley she could have found this out by the finger prints or a DNA test. Of course she would have spooked the kidnappers out and they would have wanted to run but she could have done things a better way .

Other than that it could have had a better ending the Haley walking out with her "Mother" and then as the Police have her in the car , just walking by her . I would have wanted to say so much to her if I were Haley !!!!

Avoid...
shaneizoid1 August 2020
An interesting story told in the most bungling, ham-fisted way possible. A true story told so badly it appears made up. The "acting" is awful, direction non-existent. How do you put an illegal unmarked grave in an official graveyard?? One of many questions that come up. Some cheesy movies are enjoyable IN their very cheese, this is simply gone off...
