Enjoyable school anime
Tweekums24 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Konatsu Miyamoto is a member of her school choir club but after an embarrassing incident at their concert the previous year she has been relegated to turning the pages for the pianist. Determined to sing in this year's concert she sets about starting her own club. The people she recruits aren't all keen to sing at first; Wakana is talented but gave up singing when her mother died; Sawa is more interesting in horse riding and archery but joins because she is Konatsu's friend; Taichi is the sole member of the badminton club and joins on condition that the club is known as the "Choir and sometimes Badminton Club" and finally there is Wein, he is called that because he has recently returned to Japan after spending most of his life in Vienna. Getting the required number of members will be the least of Konatsu's problems though; the school's vice principal, who is also the head of the choir, doesn't want there club to be allowed and even when it is it looks as if the concert everybody had worked so hard for will be cancelled.

While this isn't a classic series it is rather fun; the characters are likable and the viewer will sympathise with them as they encounter various difficulties. They are fairly typical anime characters but Wein does stand out a bit due to his amusingly old fashioned ideas about Japanese etiquette. The drama has enough comedy mixed in to keep it fun without that comedy seeming too forced. Inevitably in a series about a singing club there are a fair number of songs; these are pleasant enough but aren't such that the viewer is likely to rush to find the sound track. Overall Tari Tari is a pleasant way to pass the time.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

Brilliant, uplifting slice of life series

Warning: Spoilers
I sat and binge watched this series, all 12 eps in the one day.

The storyline is about some schoolkids in Japan putting together a school choir. As part of the story, we look at the background to the kids, their family lives, and poltics at the school.

The series is set in the beautiful island of Enoshima, in Japan, and takes advantage of the beautiful scenery with some really great visuals, its a very pretty anime and very visual.

Some emotional moments, a well written and very pretty to look at slice of life anime series.

A good music anime that did have emotional bits to it!

Warning: Spoilers
I have say the music in this was gorgeous as well as the art and it was good to see the likes of this anime to tell us the background of each character based on who they are as a person. The ending gave me feels man. I hate like saying goodbye to people I know at airports and the fact that they showed us that scene where Sawa said goodbye to the crew, did nearly make my eyes water. Luckily they weren't too teary but they did make me feel burny lol.

I've seen from the reviews here that Tari Tari's story was rather too slow paced. I tell you this, if you are not a big fan of slice of life anime or anime that has not much serious action to it, I definitely would not recommend you to watch this anime. Now I like my anime to be either but I just felt like watching something not exciting today so this anime was a good choice for me. I suppose it does bases around what mood you're in too!

Anyways good anime, great Japanese voice cast, great music and good plot to keep it at a rather nice non over the top flow = 8/10

Enjoyable and well-made

Very charming, great animation, good acting by the Japanese actors, and an interesting plot.

It's a comedy-drama, though the comedy is not laugh-out-loud funny (it isn't meant to be), the drama is good without becoming soapy melodrama. The characters are all well- defined, and while some (the vice principle in particular) seem like stereotypes at first, they are given development throughout the series and their actions are defined by clear motivations.

In general, if you want a charming and well-made slice of life anime, Tari Tari is a great choice. I highly recommend it.

Good atmosphere, a few troubles with pacing.
JHD_inc30 June 2016
The show has a nice balance between drama and gentle comedy. The humour is mixed in smoothly, never obtrusive or breaking the mood. And setting this mood it does very well, with a few effective imageries and no unnecessary vocalization. Overall the emotional moments are well executed, not over the top or forced and with plenty of build-up.

It starts out at a comfortable pace, taking enough time to set the mood and establish the story and characters with their backgrounds. And where it matters it continues to develop the characters in that same measured pace as well. But about half-way the shows staggers, as it continues in little story-arcs focusing on a single character. There are some touching moments and the segments are well executed (it does feel rushed in some spots), but a lot is quite secondary to the main story. You could take them out and the whole would be just as coherent (perhaps even more so). The show systematically lets its characters resolve their issues, as if wanting to place a checkmark next to each name. One character at a time is put in the spotlight, while the others take step back and wait their turn. It makes the collection of individual stories rather segmented, instead of an intertwined whole. It picks up a bit of a 'one step forward, one step back'-routine. The story loses momentum and is in danger of becoming repetitive.

The characters are nicely rounded. Not particularly complex or original, but they're likable, feel real and fit the atmosphere with their not too outspoken personalities, which are established naturally and unhurriedly. Even some supporting characters which at first glance may seem flat, get fleshed out a bit in later episodes.

For a show focussing a choir, it doesn't feature a lot of music. The soundtrack consists of only a handful of songs, which are enjoyable, but not much more. Even within the context of show, the music leaves but little impression.

Though it misses that bit of extra originality or impact to make it a classic, it's still quite well executed and truly enjoyable. I'll gladly recommend this one if you're in the mood for some gentle laughs and mild tears.

A very delightful anime..

Warning: Spoilers
The story centers around five Japanese high school students who are too young to be called adults, but who no longer think of themselves as children. Main characters Wakana Sakai once took music lessons, but she withdrew from music after losing her mother. Konatsu Miyamoto is a positive-thinking girl who loves singing and spends time after school at the vocal music club. Sawa Okita is a spirited archery club member who dreams of becoming a horse rider. Taichi Tanaka is a chronically late badminton team member who lives with his college student sister. "Wien" new transfer student from Austria. The story starts when Miyamoto was rejected to sing a recital with her music club. Konatsu being her last year in high school, she felt like doing something crazy: She quit and with the help of her friend,Sawa they formed a new chorus club, inviting the people around her to join. A very delightful anime and has plenty of good stories to tell.
