ANALYZE YOUR SEX is soft porn at its chintziest. Resurrected for modern audiences to celebrate the presence of lovely Alice Friedland, it's a non-starter.
Gimmick is to build the idea of repetition into the plot line, a clever ruse but irritating nonetheless. Opening has Alice humping a guy on a mattress surrounded by cardboard boxes in a nondescript storage room as a soul-jazz soundtrack plays. After this flashback she tells her shrink that she's hated sex ever since.
His dumb idea is to have her recreate the scene (in her mind) but with her as aggressor, so the viewer is treated to basically an alternate take in which we watch the couple simulate sex again on that same mattress -pure filler.
Alice likes that version so much she asks Dr. Chax to tell her of his sexual experiences. We're treated to the good doc humping his lovely girl friend (one of my faves, Lynn Harris -she of the large, puffy nipples). He sticks a big candle into her ass and then lights it, but this being soft-core we don't see any penetration.
Back on the couch Alice says "I see it a different way - I see something rugged in you" and true to film's structure the Lynn Harris scene is repeated, only this time Harris is trussed up in bondage and then doc appears to rape her. Next couch scene has Alice asking the doc to show her how he makes love, and a fairly strong sex simulation sequence results. Film has a coda sort of explaining away what we just sat through.
Strictly a time-killer, though the basic functional plot could be economically used for current Cinemax style soft porn features. Companion film with Friedland KISS MY ANALYST is even worse.
