There's some nice character development for both Lucas and Rhys here. Rhys makes a mature decision in backing off so Lucas and Vanessa can have their ultrasound in peace, while Lucas' desire to be a dad takes another step forward with some prompting from Karl. The bit where Lucas and Vanessa both admit they had no idea what the ultrasound was about is nicely pitched.
This episode features a rare occurrence:A Tash plot line that doesn't really work. It's a bit late to suddenly raise the subject of whether she's in the right uni course and frankly it's hard to care, especially when her snobby attitude means she sounds more like Summer than herself at times. There are a few nice moments, like her doing Andrew's work in a couple of minutes, but it falls a bit flat and it's unclear whether we're meant to cheer or groan at her dropping out.At least there's a nice continuity touch with the presence of former Erinsborough High student Cleo in her class.
