Where Did That Come From?
boblipton14 May 2021
A man is ambling alongside the railroad tracks, reading the newspaper, when the train comes in.... ad he gets knocked down.

It's listed as the first movie produced by Pathe, and it well may be. What's interesting about it is not only that, but that the Pathes aren't just remaking items from the Lumiere catalogue, but are complicating them, so that what was originally simply a study in composition and movement -- complicated enough for 1896 -- becomes a a comedy and a demonstration in how to draw the eye through motion.
