Extremely dull second volume in disappointing series
lor_31 December 2016
Girlfriends Films sought to exploit the wealth of Eastern European talent with its "Budapest" on-location series (plus an identical content visit to "Prague", which failed to generate follow-ups. This second episode has little to offer, with all hands working with low-energy and zero creativity.

Scripts were never a strong point for this ground-breaking Lesbian Video company, but here the story is barely there. The four vignettes to do not connect properly with hardly any attempt at continuity, and the brief set-up conversations are inane if not confusing, especially given the thick accents of the cast.

Visiting on her working porno vacation, Elexis Monroe at least can converse properly but the anonymous auteur (likely Girlfriends honcho Dan O'Connell) gives her nothing to work with. She complains to her landlord Sandra Shine (she's staying at a boarding house on her trip to Budapest) that she did a no-no with Liza (billed as such, but rn: Cameron Cruz), and Shine takes umbrage, advising her to go to church and pray to God for forgiveness.

So Elexis follows orders and amidst other touristy location photography we see her praying to a huge wall sculpture of Jesus, in a brief scene shot in a real, beautiful church. Oh, those crafty pornographers!

When she gets home, Elexis accepts an apology from Shine for speaking out of turn, and all is made well by Sapphic sex between them. Unfortunately it's generic, mechanical lovemaking, as are all the XXX scenes in this feature.

Other lowlights include an almost cryptic opening scene in which Sophie Moone propositions beautiful Colette in such a roundabout way I didn't get it, and neither did Colette at first. Liza's name is dropped again, pointlessly, and quickly Colette sees the light and they hump. Scene is very slowly paced, with such languorous lovemaking as to convince the viewer there's time to let the DVD run for 15 minutes or so (and miss nothing) while heading to the kitchen to make a ham sandwich. You definitely need sustenance to ride out this 2-1/2 hour video.

Shine is the star of this volume, also appearing in a pointless but more erotic sequence where she shows up at busty Judy Nero's door looking for "Brandy". I thought she meant an aperitif, but Judy invites her in not for libations but to take a dip in her fabulous indoor pool. The gals are careful not to get their hair wet and soon exit the water for XXX action on a wooden deck nearby. Nero's big bazooms are the highlight of the entire show.

Finale is really poor, as Liza finally shows up at Shine's place, with Sandra having procured a young co-worker (Blue Angel) to be broken in by Liza: the gal's straight but Liza loves such challenges. Liza gives Shine some money, and the whole sequence combines dullness with bad taste in its depiction of mercenary/pimping out lesbian behavior.

Liza's patter with Blue Angel (who is named Blue Angel rather lazily -no scriptwriter having been hired) is very poor, especially since Blue can't speak much English. She is easily seduced and they head to an undecorated bedroom in which the blue walls and pastels bedclothes are the only backdrop for over 30 minutes of dreary going-through-the- motions sex. With 10-minutes to go, Liza pauses to lecture the kid about the folly of her pipe dream to open a salon in Budapest, and then they resume humping, poor Angel maybe disillusioned if perhaps she understood some of what she was being told in that elusive English language.

If anyone really cared about content, Budapest Episode 2 would rate as a disaster, but I'm probably the last "story/character" holdout who might be watching such things.
