The action of the series takes place in Leningrad. The blockade begins, there is a general evacuation. In order to support the spirit of the citizens in difficult times, the Grand Symphony Orchestra of the Radio Committee remains in the city. Its conductor is Karl Ilyich Eliasberg. He is offered to leave the city, but wants to stay with his musicians. His brother comes to his wife Nadezhda Dmitrievna from exile. The couple are forced to shelter him in their apartment.
