International independent production company and financier Gold Rush Pictures has signed a deal with Germany’s X Filme Creative Pool to participate in financing and co-produce the next three projects written and directed and/or produced by Tom Tykwer, including features and TV series.
The partnership follows Gold Rush Pictures recent investment in Tykwer’s German contemporary drama “The Light,” the filmmaker’s return to the big screen after seven years and four seasons as writer and director of the hit series “Babylon Berlin.” It is the writer-director’s first feature film since his 2016 adaptation of “A Hologram for the King,” starring Tom Hanks.
Currently in production, “The Light” (“Das Licht”) centres on a troubled family who take on a mysterious woman as a housekeeper. When she successfully shakes up the lives of the family, she then confronts them with the dark fate of her own. The film stars Lars Eidinger,...

The 2023 German mini-series A Thin Line is definitely a masterpiece, conveying a strong message about the environmental issues caused due to rapid urbanization. We have come across films and series like Before the Flood and Plastic Ocean with strong messages against environmental damage, but the passion that the characters display in this series is unique and beyond articulation. The love for the environment with which the series has been made rings right through the brilliant portrayal of the motives of the characters. The directors Sabrina Sarabi and Damian John Harper have done justice to the screenplay by putting able actors like Hanna Hilsdorf and Saskia Rosendahl to action. The two sisters, Anna and Benjamina (Benni), are eager to cross their lines in seeking justice against the flawed policies and regulations for the environment. While Benjamina resorts to illegal means to seek justice, Anna stays within the judicial limits and tries to protect her sister.

French TV festival Series Mania started out playfully with a slew of humorous digs directed at its starry guests during the opening ceremony, including Brian Cox, back in town to hold a masterclass and introduce the latest episode of his smash hit “Succession.”
“I didn’t have time to watch Season 3. I have to see my children grow up, Brian!,” exclaimed host Daphné Bürki, before introducing this year’s opening show “Greek Salad” by Cédric Klapisch: “A prequel to ‘Norwegian Omelette,’ always starring Romain Duris,” Bürki joked.
Series Mania general director Laurence Herszberg joined in on the fun, giving a shoutout to “Emily in Paris’s” Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, attending with co-star Arnaud Binard: “She became a symbol of a Parisian woman. I hope there isn’t too much weight on your shoulders, Philippine!”
Jumping from stage onto the screen, Herszberg also starred alongside artistic director Frédéric Lavigne in...
