So, we meet Kyle's Cousin Dane, the replacement for Kyle during Christopher Milligan's absence. The episode does a decent job of introducing him to Jade, Sonya, Kate and Paul and having him chat on the phone to Lou but it might have been better to introduce him in an episode where he didn't have a storyline. Not only do we have to sit through him whingeing about the development with even less cause than Kyle but the cliffhanger of a character we've only just met having a moral dilemma falls rather flat.Still, plus points for introducing the predictable idea of the council taking backhanders and then revealing it to be a red herring.
Kate's recent indiscretion with Noah continues to haunt her as she undergoes a teaching assessment in a classroom curiously devoid of known characters(where are Andrew, Chris and Tasha?).Noah ends up having to step in and save her but Kate still has to cut him down.
Malcolm supporting Karl against Susan is nice to see, although for once Susan actually seems to be in the right, as Karl twice breaks his promise to her.
