Rather than following the route of a traditional sequel, Stx Entertainment has reportedly teed up plans for a Bad Moms spinoff, and it’s already landed a July 14, 2017 release date.
It’s called Bad Dads and, as the title suggests, takes the relatively successful format found in Jon Lucas and Scott Moore’s maternal comedy – $170 million worldwide at the time of writing – and applies it to a male-oriented feature.
Little is known about the cast and crew attached to said offshoot, but Stx is bullish in its hopes to expand the Bad parents brand, mapping out cross-platform strategies that could entail a reality television show, short form digital content, and a consumer products program.
It’s quite the unexpected deviation, though the production house defended its decision via an official statement: “Where other studios have automatically green lit traditional and significantly more expensive sequels, Stx has determined those sequels on...

No there won’t be a sequel to Stx Entertainment’s $180 million global hit Bad Moms, but rather the spinoff movie Bad Dads which will hit theaters on July 14, 2017. The studio will be revealing casting details in the coming weeks, and Stx said it will also develop cross-platform opportunities for the Bad parents brand too. “Where other studios have automatically green lit traditional and significantly more expensive sequels, Stx has determined those sequels on average are…...

Chicago – “Autumn Sonata,” Ingrid Bergman’s last film and first collaboration with cinema’s other great Bergman (Ingmar), is a challenging film. Is it pure melodrama or is it raw human emotion? The line is a fine one, enhanced by the theatricality of the film, one that opens with a character breaking the 4th wall. And yet I choose to take “Autumn Sonata” seriously and not as emotional manipulation, a decision enhanced by the enlightening essay in the Criterion edition by Farran Smith Nehme, which reveals how much of both Bergman’s own issues with parenthood may have impacted this caustic commentary on how we don’t really change, even as death is staring us in the face.
Rating: 4.5/5.0
Bad parents are as old as the form of fiction and yet Charlotte (Bergman) is a particularly loathsome one. In “Autumn Sonata,” the famed pianist is coming home to visit her...

Bad Parents, director Caytha Jentis' second feature-film directorial effort, is a black comedy focusing on the insanity prevalent in competitive youth sports leagues, in this case girls' soccer. The film is heavy on dialogue, which makes sense considering that it was originally written for the stage under the title It's All for the Kids, but I found it to be a bit short on character development and lacking in focus. For my tastes, the film had a bi-polar quality, jumping back and forth from hilarious scenes featuring sharp, witty dialogue to clunky scenes that seemed to linger too long with the feel of the film fluctuating between edgy, over-the-top black comedy and more standard TV-sitcom fare.
