Susan and Karl having the oddest split in history is hard to get a handle on but there's a nice and deliciously empathetic performance from Alan Fletcher to at least attract our sympathy, with even Susan beginning to realise the effect it's having on him.Malcolm finally recognises Susan isn't blameless in this, although Karl stops her getting too much flak.Having Paul show sympathy for them is a good move as well.He even manages to show surprising insight into Andrew and Summer's relationship, reminding Andrew of just how much Summer has given up for him and leaving him feeling decidedly uncomfortable.
Unfortunately, Kyle, usually one of the best characters, continues to remain dogged in his opposition to the development and abruptly decides he likes Jade, who has does an equally abrupt back flip with regards the development.
