Much needed backstory for Dooku
poseyfan26 October 2022
I have always thought that Dooku was an underrated character. I always presume that people just think of him as the old Sith guy who gets his head cut off.

He has always been so much more, and this episode backs up that claim; Dooku is not pure evil. Or anything close to it. He wants what is right.

The difference between Mace and Dooku in this episode demonstrates the ignorance that the Jedi council has in all these affairs. They want what is good, but they are oftentimes blinded. Dooku's fall becomes more believable.

Well done episode. The story, writing, animation and music were all solid.

Anyone Notice Plo Koon had Clone Armor on?
nicholasbrake28 October 2022
Small error seeing Plo Koon with Clone armor on his forearms long before the existence of the War. Obviously not a big deal, just wondering if anyone caught it. Really enjoying the show so far, wish Filoni manned the sequels more and more every day. This did a really good job depicting Dooku and the Jedi in color and less and less black and white. The prequels scratched the surface with this in Revenge of the Sith but I think Filoni took the entire Separatist vs Republic political war to new heights in the clone wars and he is continuing to do so in this show! He truly is the best Star Wars mind.

Mace Windu and Count Dooku Are BACK!
alexbigaliy26 October 2022
Tales of the Jedi continues to get progressively better, and 'Choices' beats both previous episodes in this anthology series. This entry not only is intriguing, but also much more colourful and therefore more visually beautiful. I know the plot was very simple and somewhat predictable, but I was thoroughly entertained throughout this watch. I thought 'Choices' balanced all of its elements masterfully: the drama, the sabotage, and the more serious undertones. Overall, the themes somewhat reminded me of 'Andor', which I really love. I can stress how great it was seeing Mace Windu and Dooku again in this episode, and although I know these episodes feel too familiar with 'The Clone Wars' and 'The Bad Batch', everything seems to just expand the Star Wars universe just a little bit more.

Food for thought...
Zett7631 October 2022
Having seen this episode and the previous one, I had this one thought I never had before, in all my years of Star Wars fanhood... Are Jedi stupid?

Let me explain.

I'm not a "know it all" expert on Star Wars lore, but I've played Knights of the Old Republic.

So... this "problem", that the power of being a Jedi can easily corrupt them, is well known for at least 1000 (!) years.

Still, they never developed some kind of early warning system. Like, when someone like Anakin or Dooku showing openly acts of violence or anger, they immediately get themselves booked an extensive anger and ideology management class...

A violation of the "we are knights of peace" code should be taken gravely serious. Yet, in so many stories, those violations have no consequences at all.

Again: after 1000 years of experience.

Are Jedis stupid?

The Dooku Chronicles Part 2
atkinsonlouise-7387315 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm loving this arc of the series that focuses on Dooku and his turn to the dark side. Putting him with Mace Windu is not only great to see as a fan, but makes sense from a story perspective. Their differing ideologies show why Mace gets his promotion and why the Jedi's downfall came. It has similar story beats to the last episode, but again the corruption in the Republic and lack of faith in the Jedi creates interesting story opportunities. This episode not only plants seeds for Dooku becoming a separatist, but also Mace's and the councils dislike of differing methods (Qui-Gon and Anakin). There was also some fun action scenes, but the dialogue is the main draw here. Also, loving the improved animation style of this series. Great stuff, can't wait for the next one. Score: 8/10.

Master Jedi
Trey_Trebuchet7 November 2022
Pretty solid all around.

Dooku's arc here, and turn to the dark side, continues to start making a little more sense. Similar to Anakin, he sees how blindsided and ignorant the Jedi council often can be. Exhibit A) Mace wanting to take things back to the council instead of just further investigating.

You really understand Dooku's frustration and point of view. He isn't even being a jerk about any of it either. He's legitimately trying to be an adult about things, with even temper, and he still can't seems to shake how he feels deep down.

As usual, the directing and animation are very good! As is the voice work.

Dookus intentions
fighterd24 May 2023
That's so cool to finally see how Dooku turned to the Dark Side / How he got his motivation to change the Republic's political system and founding the CIS. The CIS saw the Senate, politicians and all institutions as corrupt. (As you also can see in the 2nd episode of Tales of the Jedi).

Thanks LucasArts for showing some lore which isn't too far in the past but related to the characters we know form the Star Wars movies. Especially because we didn't receive much information about Count Dooku on screen except that he's "the evil guy".

I regret finding this show so late and it's sad that the marketing isn't as big as for example The Mandalorian.

Good, but seems pretty redundant
sevskirita28 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
(Disclaimer, I accidentally watched Justice then Sith Lord instead of Justice then this episode. However, I don't think it changed my opinion)

This episode was pretty good. However, I feel it's pretty redundant and a waste of an episode slot in a story that is already tight on screentime.

We already had an episode just previously where Dooku investigates a contingent of people from an oppressed planet kidnapping a senator/senator's family member. Mace Windu may show a little of the Jedi Council's obstinate rigidity, and Dooku's conversation with the revolutionary may flesh out how Dooku feels about these types a little more than the last episode, but ultimately I don't think it's a good use of screentime to repeat the same general plot. They could have used this time to give us a bigger picture of how the Senate turns a blind eye or the Jedi turn a blind eye to corruption, but instead we just got individual Senator exploiting a planet again.

And frankly, Dooku's personal relationships with other characters here is a lot less compelling than those in the prior episode, and his speech to the revolutionary doesn't actually add that much, so everything this episode did I think the previous did better. Not does this episode in of itself that interesting or well-made. Slightly better than average imo 6/10.

Redundant Chin-Stroking Episode
FriendlyRobot30 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A repetition in many ways of the previous episode. Another corrupt senator and another dour sidekick to urge Dooku against any kind of free thought. And he seemed naively surprised to hear of the reasonings behind the petty rebellion.

As for the revolutionaries, their motivations for murder and then assassination were incredibly vague. There is no indication at all that the planet is suffering under a tyranny that would make such an action more understandable.

We do get a hint of the politics of the Jedi in Windu, which was interesting. But, as with every potential plot point, it was underdeveloped.

It seemed rushed and yet ponderous, beautifully animated, but somehow lacking the quality of the Clone Wars, and had a script that felt as if a stack of subpar action novels were thrown in a blender and they just stuck what was blasted out together.

Does this series get better?
