Billy Cassidy (a solid and credible portrayal by Patrick Devaney) and his group have a meeting with Dr. Rowena Lamick (a fine performance by Jessica Lee), a maverick scientist who claims to have developed a cure for the zombie plague. Moreover, Cassidy and company join forces with a rival vigilante group from the Bronx for a daring raid on a warehouse. Once again director/co-writer Devaney comes through with his trademark winning blend of a tough and serious no-kidding tone, a substantial amount of tension, and a handy helping of graphic'n'juicy in-your-face splatter. In addition, Devaney warrants extra praise not only for staging the action and zombie attack set pieces with real flair and skill (the warehouse raid in particular is extremely gripping and thrilling), but also for providing a few welcome and touching moments of humanity amid all the brutal horror. The overall take-no-prisoners grim attitude likewise hits the savagely satisfying spot, with the single most devastating scene occurring when Cassidy team member Dr. Rebecca Kaufman (well played by Linnet J. Brooks) gets accidentally killed by a rival group member. The zombies are every bit as creepy, hideous, and relentless as they ought to be. The rough'n'grainy cinematography by Mark Boutros provides an appropriately grungy look. Bernadette McCallion's shuddery score does the spine-tingling trick. Very good stuff.
