I didn't realize I was watching the fourth installment first, although it would appear it won't matter. I don't know Lucy and my wife was directed by a friend to watch this show on Public Television. It is pretty standard investigative journalism, except she is dealing with things long past. In this one she takes a look at the witch trials of the 16th century and beyond, specifically those that occurred in Scotland under James. There is little new in her findings. One again it is the curse of religion under the power of men. Most "witches" were women and it's easy to see why. The focus of the show is a woman who actually helped people but she must have ticked someone off. She is brought to trial, tortured until she confessed, and then made to give the names of her other coven "conspirators." The show's strength is the depth of her findings which look simple but must have been painstaking.
